Alexa, play What Time is It from High School Musical 2 because it’s my favorite time of year, summer! I’ve always loved the summer; when I was a kid I used to go to the beach every Wednesday with my friends, and so many of my favorite memories are from the summertime.
While my summers have gotten busier (and more stressful) the older I’ve gotten, my love for the season has never changed. This summer, and June especially, is going to be super busy for me, and while I don’t typically do monthly TBRs, I do like setting up seasonal TBRs from time to time, so I thought it would be fun to share with y’all some books I’ve looking forward to reading over the summer!
The Firefly Summer by Morgan Matson
As you all know, Morgan Matson is one of my favorite authors, and her books (if set in the summer) always have immaculate summer vibes. Last year she released her first middle grade novel, The Firefly Summer, and though I bought it right when it came out I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. After meeting Morgan last month, I decided to reread/read all of her books, and while next up on my list is Second Chance Summer, I’m very excited to get to The Firefly Summer before the end of the season!
A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston
Ashley Poston is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors! The Dead Romantics and The Seven Year Slip were 4.5-5 star reads for me, so I’m so excited to get my hands on A Novel Love Story. I love magical realism and Poston really does that so well; I love the little magical elements that she throws into her books and the premise of this book sounds so fun. I’m really looking forward to reading it.
The Last Love Song by Kalie Holford
The Last Love Song is pitched as a queer YA Mamma Mia! with a dash of Maureen Johnson…I don’t know if a book has ever been more targeted towards me than this one is honestly. This book sounds like it’ll be a lot of fun, but also have a lot of heart. I’m especially excited because it says that the main character is with her two grandmothers, and we know I love stories where the MCs have strong relationships with their grandparents. I have really high hopes for this one, so I’m hoping I love it.
Anne of Greenville by Mariko Tamaki
I absolutely adore Anne of Green Gables (I really need to get back to my series reread) and I’ve had this one on my radar for a while now. Honestly, this one just sounds like it’ll be very cute and it has a gorgeous cover, so why would I not want to read it? I think it’ll be a fun time and who doesn’t want some fun reads in the summer?
The Boy You Always Wanted by Michelle Quach
Listen…I know that this has been on my TBR for months and I’ve said numerous times that I’m looking forward to reading it and still haven’t read it. All of those things are still true, I just haven’t been in the mood to read it, but in the summer I really love reading romance, so I have a feeling that I’ll be getting to this one in the next few months!
Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner
This summer is an Olympic summer and I am SO excited about it. I absolutely love the Olympics (both summer and winter) and whenever the Olympics are on I watch them obsessively. One of my favorite Olympic sports (and favorite sports in general) is soccer, so of course Clear Cute has been on my radar since it came out last year. This summer seems like the perfect time to finally read this one, maybe while I watch the US Women’s Soccer team.
The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center
I actually haven’t had this one on my radar for long, but after reading Helena’s review of The Rom-Commers I’m really excited to read it. I’ve heard a lot of really good things about Katherine Center’s works, so I’ve been meaning to check out one of her books. Based on Helena’s review I think I’m really going to enjoy it and connect with the characters.
And there you have it! 7 books that I’ve got on my TBR for the summer. I’d love to know if you’ve read any of these and what you thought of them!
Do you have any books that you’re hoping to get to this summer? Let me know in the comments! Until next time 💜

I want to read A Novel Love Story too!
