Reading Journal: 2026 Set Up

Aside from reading, crafting is my biggest hobby, and of the craft hobbies, journaling is my absolute favorite! I keep a lot of journals: my bullet journal, work journals (one for all year/general work and another just for summer camp programs), a theatre review journal, and I’m planning on starting and actually keeping up with a memory keeping journal this year. And of course, I have a reading journal!

Last year, I definitely fell off the reading journal wagon except for putting in my basic stats at the end of each month. However, this year, I’m feeling really motivated to keep up with it and I’ve been obsessively working on it!

I’ve had quite a journey with this reading journal already. I pre-ordered the Vintage Library journal from Archer & Olive in August, knowing that it wouldn’t arrive until mid-December. Then I started working on it the day after Christmas. I spent the entire weekend working on it and I was loving my set up and then…the worst happened. My tea spilled all over my desk and my journal, absolutely wrecking an entire journal set up. When I say that I had a breakdown about it, I mean I had a breakdown about it. It was actually incredibly upsetting. Luckily, I was able to save the majority of the stickers that I used since I had layered them on top of washi tape for decoration, and a blank journal on hand.

It took a little over a week, but I finally finished my setup and I’m so excited to share it with all of you! So, without further ado, let’s take a look at my 2026 reading journal.

Reading Journal: Beginning of the Year Spreads and 2025 Goals

Happy New Year, besties! I hope that the beginning of the year is treating you well!

With the new year comes new journal setups for me; it’s truly one of my favorite things to do in December. I love setting up a new journal, new monthly spreads, etc. and I had so much fun setting up my 2025 reading journal. December was a very busy and somewhat weird month for me, and sitting down every night to set up my reading journal was so relaxing and centering.

I stopped using my 2024 spreads in September of last year for no reason other than being extremely busy. The way that I had things set up made it a bit difficult to do with my schedule, so I rethought some of my spreads for this year and I think it’s going to help me stay on top of it.

Journal with Me: Caitlyn’s 2023 Reading Journal

Happy happy New Year, dear readers! I’m so excited to be sharing some of my favorite spreads from my 2023 reading journal with you all!

In 2022 I set up a traveler sized reading journal, and though it was nice, I didn’t end up using it as much as I had wanted to. I thought that the traveler size would make me feel less pressured to create large and detailed spreads, and while it did achieve that, I actually felt that the size was really restrictive to my creative process and I ended up only using two spreads consistently.

For 2023, I really want to utilize this journal not only for tracking my reads, goals and challenges, but also for creative spreads for books that resonated with me throughout the year. This time around I decided to go with an 8×8 journal, and I’m feeling much more creatively inspired!

2021 Reading Goals, Notion & Reading Journal Set Up

I’ve been bullet journaling for over three years now, and have gone through waves of sticking to it for everything, and then not using it at all. Like many others, I’ve fallen in love with how I can keep everything in one space, how I’m not confined to a specific layout, and most of all, how it allows me to use my creative juices while staying productive and organized. Over the years, I’ve amassed a hoard of supplies – washi tapes, blank notebooks that I’ve purchased “for next year”, brush pens, markers, stickers, stamps… you name it.  With the pandemic, and not being able to leave my house aside from going to the grocery store, I’ve found my motivation to bullet journal has waned significantly. After all, there’s only so many things I can keep track of there. I’m pretty known for being incredibly Type A, and for my love of organizational methods. Since I’m trying some new ways of keeping track of my reading journey in 2021, I figured I’d share them with you! This post gets a little lengthy, so grab yourself a cup of tea (or whatever warm beverage you’d like), and settle in!
