Happy Thursday, my friends! It’s hard to believe that we’re already nearing the end of the first month of the year!
As always, make yourself comfortable with your favorite snack and coziest of blankets, and let’s chat about the month.
January has been a very good reading month! I started off my 2024 reading strong with rereads of Heartstopper, Vol. 1-4 and finally got the chance to read Heartstopper, Vol. 5. I just adore Nick and Charlie so much and I loved continuing their journey. I participated in Winterween this month — the link to my mini reviews of the books I read for the readathon is down below — read some ARCs, found some new books that I loved, and did a few rereads.
As you’re reading this, we’ve still got 6 days left of January, and I’m hoping that I can finish another 3 books, which I think is totally doable! As of now, I’ve read 17 books this month:
- Heartstopper, Vol 1 by Alice Osman (reread, 5 stars)
- Heartstopper, Vol 2 by Alice Osman (reread, 5 stars)
- Heartstopper, Vol 3 by Alice Osman (reread, 5 stars)
- Heartstopper, Vol 4 by Alice Osman (reread, 5 stars)
- Heartstopper, Vol 5 by Alice Osman (5 stars)
- A Fragile Enchantment by Allison Saft (ARC, 3 stars)
- Some Shall Break by Ellie Marney (4.5 stars)
- Only if You’re Lucky by Stacy Willingham (ARC, 4.5 stars)
- Over My Dead Body by Sweeney Boo (4.5 stars)
- Notes on an Execution by Danya Kafkua (3 stars)
- Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie (reread, 4.5 stars)
- Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield (3.5 stars)
- The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland (ARC, 5 stars)
- Red String Theory by Lauren Kung Jessen (4 stars)
- The Breakup Tour by Emily Wibberley & Austin Seigmund-Broka (ARC, 2.5 stars)
- The Name Drop by Susan Lee (4 stars)
- The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene (reread, 4 stars)
I’m currently reading Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll via audio and really enjoying it — so far, it’s giving me what I was hoping I’d get from Notes on an Execution, plus, Sutton Foster is one of the audiobook narrators which is incredibly exciting for me. I already know what other books I’m hoping to get to before the month is over, so I do think I’ll be able to finish another 4 books before the 31st.
Blog posts and vlogs I loved this month:
- I absolutely loved Ann Liang’s latest release I Hope This Doesn’t Find You, which comes out on February 6th (keep an eye out for my review next week!) and loved Michelle’s review as she touched on so many of the things that I loved about this book.
- Okay, so fun fact, while I grew up obsessively watching the Lord of the Rings films, I’ve never read the books (I know please don’t come at me). I’m planning on reading them this year and Gavin’s reading vlog where he read the books at the Shire house made me even more excited! I also want to rewatch all of the films now, the extended editions of course, and maybe I will do that soon as well.
- I love watching and reading posts about upcoming releases, so I loved Meg’s anticipated releases vlogs. As always, this video just made my TBR longer, but I can’t even be mad about it with how excited I am about some of these books!

What a month January has been! The month started off very slow since for the first week I didn’t have to go into the office and was able to work from home, but then we started rehearsals for the musical I’m stage managing and work wise it’s all been a little crazy from there! Not bad crazy (mostly), but crazy nonetheless and aside from the musical, I’m in full summer camp prep mode! The inside of my brain kind of just looks like that gif of Andy Karl in Groundhog Day: The Musical spinning around with a terrified look on his face, iykyk.
Outside of work it’s been pretty chill — I had a sushi lunch with my dad and sister, as we usually do around the holidays, went to the farmer’s market, went book shopping and saw the new Mean Girls film (I have thoughts but overall enjoyed it!) and just did a lot of reading!
Next month I’ll be visiting my best friend and I literally cannot wait to hang out and go see some Broadway shows!
I hope that your new year has started off wonderfully and has been filled with lots of coziness, laughter, and of course, good books. Let me know what you’ve been up to this month in the comments, and I look forward to catching up in February!
Until next time!

I am very impressed that you’ve already read so much, when I’m over here already behind on my yearly goal.
