Well, the first of the “ber” months has come and gone, and honestly, I don’t know where it went!
Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, a snack, get comfy and let’s recap my September!
September was definitely a slower reading month for me. I was having a hard time focusing on one book and was essentially jumping between 3-4 books for a week or two. Then I got sick, which definitely didn’t help and I couldn’t focus on anything for a few days, but then I seemed to get back into the groove of things and finished 2 books in under 24 hours…so yeah, it’s been a weird reading month. I didn’t read as many books as I typically do, and while that did annoy me, I hit my updated goal of 150 books, so that was exciting!
This month I read 7 books and these were my favorites:
- One for My Enemy by Olivie Blake
- Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Blog posts and vlogs I loved this month:
- I loved Michelle’s review of Foul Heart Huntsman, and she definitely touched on all the things I loved about the book!
- We all know that I will read almost any Shakespeare retelling, but especially Romeo and Juliet retellings. I’ve definitely been looking forward to Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomons, and after reading Helena’s review, I couldn’t be more excited!
My posts this month:
- The Death I Gave Him Review
- The Getaway List Review
- The bookstores I visited during my New York trip & the books I bought there
This month started amazingly, as I was visiting my best friend Helena! This trip was so much fun and we packed a LOT into the four full days that I was there, as we always do. I won’t go into detail about all the bookstores we went to as I just shared a blog post about that, but if you want to read about our bookstore adventures, my post is linked above!
We took a trip to The Met which is always one of my favorite things to do. I could spend an entire day there and still not see every exhibit. We ate so much good food — seriously, I had some of the best tacos I think I’ve ever had on this trip, went apple picking, and of course we saw some amazing shows! On Friday night we saw Moulin Rouge, & Juliet on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon (yes, you read that correctly, we did see & Juliet twice), and Little Shop of Horrors on Sunday evening.
The rest of the month was pretty uneventful. I mostly just eased myself back into work after three weeks off, had a little book shopping day, and have started some mild room re-organizing. Unfortunately, towards the end of the month I ended up sick, which is never fun, but I’m on the mend and feeling much better.
I’ll be ending the month by seeing the touring cast of Hadestown, which I’m really looking forward to!
I hope that the month of September treated you well — what were your highlights?
Until next time!
