August really has slipped away into a moment in time, hasn’t it? Well, as it’s the end of the month you know what’s next — our monthly wrap up! Grab a cup of tea and see what we read and loved this month and what we’re looking forward to in September!
A quick reminder that Mary is on an indefinite hiatus, and you can catch up with her on @bookswithmary!
This month Caitlyn read 16 books, and Cossette read 31 books.
What a month it has been! With the first two weeks of the month being taken up by the final weeks of summer camp, and family visiting for a week it did not leave a lot of reading time, but I did manage to read 16 books — which was more than I thought I would get to with my schedule this month. My favorite reads this month were my rereads of The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake, Little Women by Lousia May Alcott (which I annotated and had the best time doing so!), and Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li. Of my new reads, I really loved Twelfth by Janet Key, This Place is Still Beautiful by Xixi Tian, and Do I Know You? By Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka. Next month I’m hoping to finish my reread and annotation of Persuasion, and start a few more annotation projects!

Posts I Loved Reading:
- Kate at YourTitaKate featured a lot of really great interviews for Wikiathon this month, but my favorites were her interviews with Victor Manibo and Olivie Blake! Prior to this interview I hadn’t heard of Victor or The Sleepless but this interview made me so excited to read it. We know I love Olivie Blake and I thought Kate’s interview with Olivie was so insightful and interesting — it also really amped up my excitement for The Atlas Paradox!
- As we know, at my core, I am a musical theatre girlie, so I loved Helena’s post on her Musical Theatre Essentials
- I really loved reading Michelle’s interview with Chloe Gong and reading more about Chloe’s process while writing Foul Lady Fortune and hearing a bit about Immortal Longings.
What a month this has been! This month, I tried out my hand at @bookstorevibe Mary’s 31 Books in 31 Days challenge. I knew it wasn’t feasible to read a book every day, due to everything I had going on, so I tried to stick to more graphic novels, and lighter reads, and would sometimes read multiple short books a day. Some graphic novels that I really loved were: Displacement by Kiku Hughes, and Kay O’Neil’s The Tea Dragon Society. I really loved rereading Portrait of a Thief with everyone for tea time reads, and had the best time annotating it! Speaking of annotations, I also finished annotating Persuasion, which I buddy read with Caitlyn and Saima, and wrapped up my The Starless Sea annotations. This month, I also got to read an ARC of Emma Lord’s Begin Again, and I absolutely adored it. I also read a couple memoirs this month, and particularly recommend The Impossible City: A Hong Kong Memoir. Next month, I’m hoping to focus more on rereads and annotations, but also get back into reading ARCs, since I really let that go this month in favor of the 31 Books in 31 Days challenge.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I love planning ahead for Bookstagram, and doing Bookstagram research, and doveyreads’ posts are always so incredibly helpful! Whether it’s on growing your platform, how to get more engagement, or how to make your bookstagram fall themed, I always look forward to doveyreads’ posts.
- I know I can always look to Gauri’s reviews for solid book recommendations! I immediately added The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches to my TBR once reading this review.
- I’ve heard quite a bit about The Undead Truth of Us from Amanda’s twitter, so I was highly anticipating her review of it! Beautifully written, and poetic as always, Amanda’s review is one you have to check out! As an aside, Amanda is now also on TikTok!
- I love reading about what other people have on their TBR — if only to continue adding books to my neverending one, and I loved reading kath-reads’ anticipated August releases!
- As someone who struggles with fantasy sometimes, I really appreciated happybookishafter’s 7 Fantasy Standalones for Lazy Readers Afraid of Commitment post!
Thanks so much for reading our wrap up! We hope that August treated you well and would love to know what you got up to this month. Until next time!

I’m really looking forward to reading Portrait of a Thief! I know I’m quite behind and should’ve read it by now, but I hope I get to read it sometime in the future. And of course, thank you so much for the mention! 💕
