Hi, hello friends! We cannot believe the first month of 2022 has already finished, and our first month of reading is done and dusted. We hope you all had a magical start of the year, and that you’re happy, healthy and staying safe! We’re so excited to see what February has in store for us all, but first, let’s get into the monthly wrap up!
This month Caitlyn read 20 books, Cossette read 31 books, and Mary read 8 books.
This month, I read a total of 20 books, which I think is a great way to start off the year! Personally, I love starting my year off with some rereads, so I loved my rereads of the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series, and The Night Circus. I loved Rachel Lynn Solomon’s Weather Girl and thoroughly enjoyed Sue Lynn Tan’s Daughter of the Moon Goddess which was our January pick for TeaTimeReads.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- We all know that I love any story that involves baking, so I’m super excited for Kaitlyn Hill’s Love From Scratch, and Helena’s review has made me even more excited to read it!
- I absolutely love Chloe Gong’s These Violent Delights duology, and I’m basically always thinking about it. This review by Krisha is making me want to drop everything and reread both books!
This month, I read a total of 31 books! I’ve been trying to get off all electronics by 10:00 at night, and read until I’m tired, which has really helped me in reading more books. After many months of putting it off, I finally read The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake, and loved it! I also really enjoyed Racquel Marie’s Ophelia After All, Christina Li’s Clues to the Universe, and Jesse Q. Sutanto’s Four Aunties and a Wedding. I’ve been making steady progress on my Les Miserables reread too!

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I much prefer duologies over series, but ultimately my preference lies with standalones! Still, there’s a lot of duologies that I’ve read and want to revisit again. I loved the concept of ‘Duology Do-Overs’, and will be stealing this idea for later in the year when I inevitably hit a reading slump and have to reread a lot of books!
- Fanna’s review of Jade Fire Gold is so beautifully written, and reminded me of all the things I enjoyed about Jade Fire Gold when I read it!
- If you know anything about me, you know how much I love trackers, and I love statistics. So it’s no surprise that Saima’s year in books post was a standout for me!
Despite starting not so strong, my reading month ended up being very successful! I read a total of eight books, and while I didn’t love a lot of them, I’m still thrilled with how my reading month went. My favourite book I read this month was Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao. This book was such a wonderful read, and I loved every moment of it. I am anxiously awaiting the second book in the series, and I cannot wait to see where it goes. I also reread two favourites, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata, which I credit to getting me out of a small reading slump that happened mid month. I’m super excited to see what I read in February, and I am hoping to stay on track (if not ahead) of my reading goal in the coming months.
