Hi, hello friends and welcome back to teatimelit! I thought it would be a nice time to take a break of my usual scheduled reviews, and discuss some books I’m excited for! May has already been a good month for me reading wise, however I do think I’m starting to slump, so I’ve decided to look forward to June and see what books I can pre-plan to read. Be sure to let me know what books you’re looking forward to next month, but without further ado let’s see the list!
- One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
I know I’ve technically already read this one (still forever grateful for the eARC, St Martin’s Press!), but I’m so incredibly excited to reread. Thankfully I have another excuse to, because it’s one of two books for teatimereads in June! I loved this book a lot, and after giving it 5 stars I cannot wait to get reacquainted with August and Jane. I know our tea party attendees are going to love One Last Stop, and I’m super thrilled we get to read it for the book club! Casey McQuiston just gets better as a writer, so if you’re a fan of Red, White & Royal Blue, you’re going to love One Last Stop too. You can read more comprehensive thoughts about it here in Cossette’s full review!

- Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé.
Honestly, this one is the book I’m most excited for in June. Cossette has hyped it up so much to me since she read it, and I trust her taste in books, so I cannot wait to dive straight into this one! I am so excited to be able to read this one alongside teatimereads, as this was picked as our second June book for next month! The premise of this book just sounds so interesting and compelling, and I don’t read nearly enough dark academia. I think this book will be perfect to end my evolving reading slump, and not to mention how gorgeous that cover is! I love mysteries, and I love an academic setting, so this book sounds absolutely perfect for me. Honestly, I need to read it ASAP.

- Legend by Marie Lu
Can you believe I have never read a book written by Marie Lu? I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about her books, and there are so many to choose from I can’t possibly know where to start. However, I’ve chosen Legend to be my first entry into reading her books, because I was informed it was a retelling of Les Miserables. I love the musical a lot, and while I still haven’t read the book yet (it’s affectionately known as ‘the brick’ for a reason friends!) I’m still a sucker for retellings. I cannot wait to see for myself how wonderful Marie Lu’s writing is, and I cannot wait to binge read most of them. I already know I’m going to love this book, so I cannot wait to get reading. Bring on June already!

- The Ex-Talk by Rachel Lynn Soloman
This is another one Cossette keeps recommending to me, and I’m finally getting around to reading it! For those who don’t know, I’m very new to reading romcoms (and romance in general, tbh!) so I’m always open for new recommendations if anyone has any. This book sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun, and definitely like something I haven’t read before. Cossette has told me it’s ‘fake enemies-to-lovers’ and something about that trope just makes me giddy! So many of my friends loved it, so I cannot wait to finally be able to talk about it with them. I’m hoping this’ll be my first book of the month, to really kickstart my June reading list.

- Amelia Unabridged by Ashley Schumacher
This one has been a long time coming, if I’m completely honest, and yet another one on this list that Cossette loves! I think I’ve been putting off reading this book because I know I’m going to love it. I’ve wanted to keep this book for a month where I’ll truly have time to sit down and read it cover to cover and fully immerse myself in reading it. June marks the end of my university semester, so the perfect time! All I know about this book is that it discusses grief beautifully, and just from the cover alone I know it’s going to be a beautiful book. I fully expect to finish this book with it becoming one of my favourites, and I’m so excited to see if it lives up to my expectations.

And there we have it, five books that I hope to read next month! Be sure to let me know what your TBR is looking like, and if we have any of the same books, and I look forward to hearing all about them next month! Happy reading!

One Last Stop and Ace of Spades deserve to be on every list, so I’m glad to see them here! Also hope you enjoy Legend! It’s one of my favourite dytopian series of all time (alongside THG). I don’t have a TBR in June but hopefully I read some good books haha.
