Let’s Talk: Mary Reads Books like The Night Circus

February 26, 2021

Hi, hello! If you didn’t know, I really love The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I can’t really put into words why I love it so much, but it’s my all time favourite book, and I comfort read it a lot: it’s super special to me. The only problem is, I am always looking for a book that feels just as special and magical as this one. While The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern meets the criteria, I’m always on the hunt for other books that are similar.

One of my favourite things to do is google various forms of “books like The Night Circus” or “books to read if you liked The Night Circus”. I love seeing what other books people think are similar, or have the same vibe as The Night Circus, and I googled it so often I thought “hey, this would be a super fun series for the blog!” And so this idea was born. I like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable about The Night Circus, and I know the vibe pretty well, so I thought it would be fun to choose some of these books and review them for you guys!

I don’t want to spoil the books I’m reading early on, but I will (hopefully) be reading one a month, and reviewing it here. I can’t wait to read some new books, and see if people’s recommendations are accurate (in my opinion). But first, the exciting part. I have already decided what my first book in this series is going to be! I think this book is the most common and frequent recommendation associated with The Night Circus, and that is Caraval by Stephanie Garber.

I know nothing about this book, having managed to avoid spoilers during its popularity on Instagram, but I’m super excited to get reading! If you want reading updates throughout this journey, feel free to follow me on Instagram or Twitter, and I’ll make sure I update those sites frequently! This is going to be such a fun project, which will hopefully keep my reading challenge going throughout 2021.

If you have any recommendations for me, please let me know in the comments below! I can’t wait to bring you my thoughts on Caraval in March!

please be sure to tell me your thoughts when you get to it! it takes a couple of chapters to follow the plot, and my biggest tip is to pay attention to the dates at the start of the chapters!
