Book Recs: For the Pisces Reader

February 18, 2025

Happy Pisces Season! As a Pisces myself, I love this time of year. Pretty much every time I see a post that is “___ as the zodiac signs” I stop to read it and take it very personally if Pisces is not something I like — once I saw a Which Gilmore Girls Character Are the Signs one and it gave Pisces Dean…you know I unfollowed that account. Since I love posts like this, I figured it was long overdue that I make one for my fellow Pisces!

There are probably millions of books that I could put on this list, but I managed to narrow it down to 9 books that I think are perfect for Pisces readers!

Pisces are known for being empathetic and emotional, artistically inclined and dreamers. Personally, I do associate myself with all of those traits. I know some people who don’t feel like their zodiac sign really matches their personality, I am not one of those people; I feel like there is literally no other sign I could be but Pisces, and I take pride in being part of the last sign of the zodiac.

Coming up with recs for this post was actually incredibly easy and I feel like you’ll see the theme with most of them. First, we’ll start with a few classics that really are perfect for my fellow Pisces.

I would not be me if I didn’t find a way to bring Shakespeare into this, but this is a pick that really I think makes so much sense. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is romantic and dreamy and ethereal (of course there’s more to it than that, but when I think of Midsummer those are the first words that come to mind). Midsummer is one of Shakespeare’s most performed plays for a reason, it is utterly beautiful. The themes include love and the complexities of it, the way order and disorder go hand in hand, dreams and illusions, appearance vs. reality and magic and mischief — all things that appeal to a Pisces. If you haven’t read A Midsummer Night’s Dream yet, you absolutely must.

If there’s one literary character that almost every Pisces can relate to, I’m pretty sure it’s Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables. Anne is a dreamer who sees the beauty in the world, often gets lost in her thoughts and words of her own creation, and is incredibly empathetic towards those she loves. I was obsessed with Anne of Green Gables as a child and the story still has such a special place in my heart — I actually need to get back to my series reread. I think this book and series is essential Pisces reading.

Pisces are very romantic, so I did have to include a few romance books here! The Written in the Stars series by Alexandrea Bellefleur is one of my favorites and I do recommend all of them but especially Written in the Stars since Elle is a social media astrologer. It’s also a perfect Pisces read because Darcy is a Pisces moon, and Elle is a Pisces sun and Pisces rising. Really, Alexandria Bellefleur wrote Written in the Stars for Pisces!

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches is such a lovely cozy fantasy, romance, and found family story that I truly think every Pisces would love. It’s been a while since I last read it, but when I read it I fell so deeply into the story and the characters; it’s just such a lovely story, I highly recommend it!

Were someone to ask me what genre I would associate with Pisces, it would absolutely be fantasy, which is ironic since I’m not a huge fantasy reader, but when I find one I love I love it and these are some fantasy reads that I absolutely love and could not recommend more highly.

Water Moon is a book I just finished and am absolutely in love with. I won’t go into my thoughts because I’m posting a review later this week, but this is such a Pisces book. It’s so beyond magical and the atmosphere is incredible; I wanted to get lost in this book.

Erin Morgenstern writes the best fantasy. She is just on an entirely different level. Both The Night Circus and The Starless Sea are masterpieces. Her writing is vivid and lush and gorgeous; from the first page to the last she draws you into her world and you want to stay there for as long as possible. Both of these books are some of my favorites of all time.

Rachel Griffin herself is a Pisces (her birthday is March 20th, so she’s just at the end of Pisces season — and yes I looked this up because she gives me Pisces vibes!) so it makes sense that I’m so drawn to her books. My preferred type of fantasy is the magical realism type of fantasy, and she writes it so beautifully. I always feel so connected to nature when I read her books and they make me feel so inspired. I’ve really enjoyed all of her books, but my favorites are definitely The Nature of Witches and Bring Me Your Midnight, both of which I think my fellow Pisces would love!

There you have it! Some book recs for my fellow Pisces. If you’re a Pisces, I’d love to know if you’ve read any of these and what you thought or if they’re on your TBR. if you’re not a Pisces, tell me what your sign is and a book that you would recommend for other people with your sign!

Until next time 💜

happy happpppy pisces season!! i’m also a pisces, and this is truly the best time of year 🥰 – when’s your birthday – are you a feb pisces or march pisces? omg i FULLY agree with you about the posts on instagram that are “___ as the zodiac signs” — i’m unfollowing straight away if i don’t agree (hahaha you’re so real for unfollowing after pisces being given dean).

i’m going to trust you on this one, especially because i loooove anne of green gables, and a midsummer night’s dream. i also feel like i fit EXACTLY within the pisces stereotype which is why i’d probably love all of these books. i (surprisingly) haven’t read any others on this list, but i’m bumping them up on my tbr so i can get to them super soon! ❤️
