Can y’all believe that it’s already August? This year is flying by; it’s crazy to me that we’re almost at the end of summer! Y’all know I love summer (aside from the really intense heat waves we’ve been going through here) so, I’m trying to soak it all up as long as I can!
As we’re at the beginning of a new month, it’s time for another monthly reset. Read on to hear what I’ve got planned for August!
Truthfully, there’s nothing too extremely exciting planned for the blog this month. I have some reviews, and book rec posts, but most of the month will be episode reviews of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder since it’s now available on Netflix! A while ago on my Bookstagram I set up a poll for how I should do reviews of AGGGTM and people voted for episode-by-episode reviews and 2 reviews a week for 3 weeks, so those will be the majority of my posts this month. I’m very excited about it and hope you all enjoy it!
Because I knew I’d be doing so many AGGGTM posts this month, it was pretty easy to schedule all of my August posts, but I now have nothing scheduled for September 🤣 so, I’ll be spending quite a bit of time figuring out my September posts. As always, if there’s anything specific that you’d like to see on the blog or hear my thoughts on, let me know in the comments!
We are at the end of our 8th week of summer camp now — 1 week left to go and then we’re done! The summer (work-wise) seems to have been very long but very short at the same, and it overall has gone very well, but I’m definitely excited to be coming towards the end. I’m taking a 3-week vacation that I’m really looking forward to; the summer at work can be a lot mentally, and it’s nice to have the ability to take time off and reset my brain before going into the school year.
It’s my dad and sister’s birthday month, so we’ll have some low-key birthday celebrations going on! I’m going to the beach with my sister and brother-in-law this weekend which will be fun! We always do a beach day around her birthday, and I love lounging on the beach, reading, going in the water, and then getting lunch and going to the nearby shops. I always feel so relaxed at the beach and it’s a great way for me to unwind and slow down. Plus, who doesn’t love reading on the beach?
I’m hoping that my sister and I can pick a weekend to go to the park and have a picnic like we’ve been talking about for a while now — especially since in my latest Broadway Boxed Up subscription box I got a Sunday in the Park with George themed picnic blanket!
Aside from finishing up summer at work, I’m most excited to go back east and visit my best friend, Helena! I’m leaving the day after camp ends and I’ll get to have just under a week with my bestie and I’m so excited! We’ve got Broadway shows lined up (and not only & Juliet! Be proud, everyone!), we’re going to Emma Lord’s book signing, and I’m hoping to make a trip to the Met to see the Sleeping Beauties exhibit! I know that it’ll be another amazing trip as always, because how could it not be when I’m with my best friend?
Aside from that trip, I’m looking forward to the aforementioned vacation time from work (I can’t wait to be well-rested again), and I’ll be seeing the Frozen tour at the end of the month.
Entertainment wise there is a lot to look forward to this month! There’s the TV adaptation of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder — I can’t wait to binge-watch it when I’m not obsessively watching the Olympics. The last week of the Olympics, and the latest season of Only Murders in the Building comes out at the end of this month, and I’m really looking forward to that.
Musically, Maren Morris’ new ep Intermission comes out tomorrow, which I’m so excited about. I’ve loved the songs that she’s released so far and am really excited about the direction that she’s taking her music. Sabrina Carpenter is about to release the album of the summer with Short n’ Sweet, I guarantee it and I know that I’m about to become obsessed with it.
I think my reading for this month will be very mood-dependent except for a few things. I’ve still got some August ARCs that I want to get to, so I’m going to do my best to get those read before their release dates — I think I can for most of them, but there may be one that I get to after its release. Aside from the few ARCs that I have, there are some August releases that I would love to read this month, but no rush.
Towards the end of July, I happened to find the Fire tablet that my brother and sister-in-law had bought me for Christmas in 2020 — I didn’t really use it then because I had bought myself a Kindle earlier that year, but I’ve since stopped using my Kindle because it’s just too slow. I decided to try using the Fire tablet for reading my ebooks as opposed to my iPad and I’m really enjoying it! It’s much faster than my Kindle was and it’s smaller than my iPad so it’s easier to use. I love using it right now, so I can see myself using it a lot this month! I’m also going to get a clear case for it and put some stickers and a pop socket on it to make it a little cuter because we all know I love a good aesthetic!
June and July were very busy months, and I’m hoping that August can be a little slower. Let me know in the comments what you’re looking forward to this month!
Until next time 💜
