Hi, hello everyone! I hope you’re all keeping well, and the month of May is delightful! As special editions of books become increasingly popular, the likes of Illumicrate and Fairyloot are releasing more and more, it’s often hard to keep track. So, I thought it would be fun to go through five of my favourite announcements as of late, and get everyone excited for some amazing book releases coming soon.
- The Bridgerton Set – Illumicrate
Admittedly, I’m only excited for this release because my best friend is excited for them, but they are stunning. I mean, look at those spines, aren’t they gorgeous? The thing I love about this release is just how cohesive they are – all the color shades match, the illustrations are stunning, and I love how they are so pretty but minimalistic. While I’ve never read Bridgerton, I can sense these truly match the vibes of the book and the show, so I can’t wait to see how they look on people’s bookshelves. Also, another thing I love about them is the price. I’ve always found Illumicrate pricing to be quite reasonable, so I found £110 for eight books to be reasonable. For how stunning they are it won’t surprise me if these sell out fast!
- Daughter of the Pirate King – Fairyloot
Again, this is another set I’ve decided to pass up on, but after seeing those sprayed edges the decision was hard. I think Fairyloot does some incredibly stunning special editions, so it’s no surprise to me that this series is following that precedent. This set features a naked hardback design, custom end pages and bonus content for those who loved the series – they’re truly stunning, and not a set to be missed. In fact, I’m still thinking about those sprayed edges, even after the sale has been completed. I mean – how could I not? I also love the foiling on the hardcover designs, I think the gold really ties it all together and makes them that little bit more worth the purchase. This is another set I can’t wait to see pictures of, especially to see how they look compared to the digital mock ups.
- The Dragon’s Promise – Fairyloot
I am forever staring at the Fairyloot edition of Six Crimson Cranes in awe, and this one is no different. If you didn’t know, I adored Six Crimson Cranes when it came out, and The Dragon’s Promise is one of my most anticipated books of this year. It was no surprise that Fairyloot announced a matching edition for the sequel, and it is equally as stunning as the first. This design is purple, which will look beautiful alongside the pink, and it yet again has stunning sprayed edges that match the vibe of the book. In fact, the sprayed edges are stencilled, so they’re different designs and different patterns that match the first edition. One of the things I love about Fairyloot special editions is that they put custom artwork on the reverse side of the dust jacket, and this book is no different. This edition will be beautiful, and I can’t wait to see it alongside the first novel
- The Emily Henry Collection – Illumicrate
Ok, everyone who follows here at teatimelit knows that we all love Emily Henry’s books. I mean, what’s not to love? I truly think she writes the perfect romances, and while I haven’t managed to get my hands on a copy of Book Lovers yet, I know I am going to love it when I do. Which is why I was super, super excited for Illumicrate to announce a collection of Emily Henry special editions. These editions aren’t as customised as the ones mentioned previously, but they feature hardback versions of the UK covers, colorful sprayed edges that correspond with the covers, and Book Lovers will be hand signed! I think this will be a fun matching set, especially if you don’t have the UK covers. I will personally be trying to get my hands on these ones, especially because I want these covers in hardback, so I cannot wait to see how they look all together in person, especially with those coloured edges.
- Foul Lady Fortune – Waterstones Exclusive
Ok, this one is simply stunning. I mean, that hardback design? Are you kidding me! I really loved the pink on the cover, and the foil beneath the dust jacket matches perfectly. In fact, if I were getting this book (I am still undecided, admittedly), I would ditch the dust jacket altogether and display the bare hardback. Honestly, I’m obsessed. Foul Lady Fortune is already one of our most anticipated books here at teatimelit, so seeing it get a stunning exclusive edition makes my heart happy, and I can’t help but wonder if any of the book subscription boxes will being following suite. Honestly, they might have trouble trying to beat Waterstones, who have really knocked it out of the park. I’d love to see them re-release some matching special editions of These Violent Delights, just so we can have a Chloe Gong matching collection.
And there we have it! Some of my favourite special editions that are releasing soon. Let me know below what you think of these, and what editions you’re most looking forward to. Have a lovely day!
