Hi, hello friends and welcome to another post! I’ve started this month on the slow side, and we’re 9 days into the month without me having picked up a book! Granted, I’ve been very busy, but still it feels almost tragic to go this long. So, I thought — why not share some of my planned TBR with you guys and keep myself accountable for what I read this month. Without further wait, let’s get into the list!
1. A Question of Holmes by Brittany Cavallaro
I started off so strong with the Charlotte Holmes series, and like many others in my life, I just never finished it. I loved this series so much while reading it last month: it’s time to get back into it. I will definitely be listening to this one as I did the others, because I really enjoyed the audiobook format. It’s just finding the time to put it on! It’s definitely one I’ll be picking up sooner rather than later, especially since this gives me an excuse to continue playing Lego Star Wars on my Switch
2. Star Wars novellas
Words cannot explain how excited I am for the Obi Wan Kenobi TV show that’s being released at the end of the month, so what better way to celebrate it by reading some fun Star Wars novels! My friend is a massive massive fan of the films, and she has given me a list of all the books she recommends that I read. Granted, there are a lot of them, but I think I’m going to pick out a few and begin learning about the various characters and worlds in this vast universe. I love these films so much, so it’d be fun to find a love of the books too.
3. A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey
I finally want to begin annotating this book! For those who don’t know, I simply adore this book (full review can be found here), and I’ve wanted to annotate it since buying a physical copy. I can’t wait to buy some matching pens so I can write down all my thoughts while rereading, and I’ll definitely be needing various shades of pink for my post it notes and sticky tabs. This’ll be a fun, creative project for me in May so I’m excited to get started.
4. The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh
This book has been on my shelf for so long and seems like it’ll be such a fun and magical read. I’ll definitely need a highly magical book this month, and I think this one is perfect. The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea was loved by a lot of my friends, and I trust their judgment, so I know I’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
5. Dating Dr Dil by Nisha Sharma
This book seems like the perfect romcom for my TBR, and I’ve seen it float around on TikTok recently. It seems like it’ll be a good palate cleanser, because I definitely feel myself leaning towards high fantasy books with strong magical elements. What can I say, I love some magic, but I also love a good romance – so I think this book will be perfect.
And there we have it – five books I want to read in May. Here’s hoping I get to them, and I don’t get too distracted by my current TV show watch (The Clone Wars, for anyone wondering!), but let me know your thoughts on the list down below. Happy reading!
