Wrap Up: August 2025

August 31, 2025

August slipped away into a moment in time…

Happy end of August, besties! As always, it’s wrap up time. Get comfy and cozy and let’s chat about the month!

I’ve had kind of a weird reading month. It started pretty slow; I couldn’t focus on a book to save my life, then once I finished work and started vacation I read a bunch of mystery/thrillers for a week and my reading slowed down a bit once again. Ratings wise, it was a pretty solid month with mostly 3-4.5 stars, and one 2.5 star. My favorite of the month was probably The Wedding People by Alison Espach. I really loved it and once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down! I’m really glad that the book club picked it for this month and that I finally got around to reading it.

Books read this month:

  1. No Body No Crime by Tess Sharpe (3 stars)
  2. Heart Strings by Ivy Fairbanks (ARC, 4.5 stars)
  3. With a Vengeance by Riley Sager (4 stars)
  4. Such a Bad Influence by Olivia Muenter (3 stars)
  5. Death in the Cards by Mia P. Manansala (4.5 stars)
  6. How to Seal Your Own Fate by Kristen Perrin (4 stars)
  7. Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley (4 stars)
  8. How to Kill a Guy in Ten Ways by Eve Kellman (2.5 stars)
  9. Swallowed by Meg Smitherman (4 stars)
  10. The Wedding People by Alison Espach (4.5 stars)
  11. A Crime of Passion Fruit by Ellie Alexander (3 stars)
  12. Another One Bites the Crust by Ellie Alexander (3 stars)

Blog posts and vlogs I loved this month:

  • I loved Kayla’s vlog where she predicted ratings for some of the horror books on her tbr. It’s definitely made me think about doing something similar!

My posts this month:

  • Reading Only Mystery/Thriller Books for a Week
  • I ran a 30+ Camp Summer Program for 9 Weeks, I deserve some new books!

We finished 9 weeks of summer camp on the 8th and then I spent the rest of the month on vacation, which was truly so wonderful! I really needed it; it was nice to not think about work 24/7 and get some restful sleep and have time to do some things that I’ve been wanting to do for a while.

I finally started working on some air dry clay projects! I made some coasters and pins! They’re…so far from perfect, and typically that would send my perfectionist brain into a major self deprecating spiral, but I’m actually pretty proud of them! Yes, they’re imperfect, but they were handmade — I spent days working on them and the fact that I made them myself makes me very proud! I’m excited to continue making things and getting better.

This month marked my first Bay FC match and I had the best time! It was a really special game since they were playing at Oracle Park (home of the San Francisco Giants — truly could this have been a more Caitlyn coded day?) and it was the most attended women’s sporting event in the U.S. which is absolutely mind boggling to me and I’m so proud to have been part of something so historic. Would it have been better if we ended up winning? Yes, but we put up a good fight and it was a great match, so I wouldn’t have traded it for the world. Also, I got to see Trinity Rodman in person and that was incredibly cool. I’ve got another Bay FC match coming up next month and I’ll be attending the Championship match in November since we’re hosting it and I couldn’t be more excited!

My sister, brother-in-law and I went to an amusement park for my sister’s birthday earlier this month (wow this feels like a lifetime ago now 🤣) and it was so much fun! We used to go there all the time when I was a kid, but I truly can’t remember the last time I was there, so it was fun to go again.

I made some staple recipes this month like my salmon poke bowl, chicken nachos, ramen and sun dried tomato pasta, but I also tried some new stuff like gyoza soup and chocolate covered strawberry cookies!

I finally got around to watching Kpop Demon Hunters this month and I’m truly obsessed. I’ve watched it 3 times in like 2 weeks and made my mom watch it with me. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack non-stop as well. I totally get why people are loving it so much, and I know I’ll watch it a lot.

I’ve also been playing quite a bit of Tiny Book Shop and it’s so much fun! I haven’t played my Switch in so long, so it was nice to pull it out again and play some video games. I also played a little more Animal Crossing, but Tiny Book Shop has been taking up most of my time on the Switch. It’s such a fun and relaxing game; it’s perfect to play while listening to an audiobook, and I love that it’s real books that are in the game/you get to recommend. I’ve even added a few to my tbr.

Music wise, Perrie released her latest single If He Wanted to He Would and announced her debut album will be out in September! I absolutely love the song; her voice is incredible and I love the lyrics/style of the song. It’s been stuck in my head non-stop since it came out and I’m so excited for her album! Sabrina Carpenter released her latest studio album Man’s Best Friend on Friday and it’s so good. Like, I do not understand people saying that this album is bad? I mean, I haven’t seen people saying it (clearly I follow the right people) but I’ve heard people talking about it and I’m just ??? It’s so much fun and so Sabrina. It’s funny, clever and the music itself is great. For me, Sabrina never misses and I’m so excited to continue listening to the album and memorizing all the lyrics.

I hope that August treated you well! Let me know what you were up to this month in the comments below!

Until next time 💜
