Okay, did July breeze by for anyone else? I swear, the month just started and suddenly it’s over! But wow, what a month it has been! As you know, with the end of the month comes wrap up time so let’s get into it!

After having the best reading month of the year numbers wise in June, my reading slowed down this month but I do think stayed pretty on par for what a typical reading month in terms of numbers looks like for me, so that’s a positive note! As for ratings…what an all over the place month! I had some serious hits and some very bad misses, it was a bit of a rollercoaster ride.
I had said I was going to post more this month and I did, which I’m really happy about! This month and last, I was so busy writing scripts for work that it kinda took a second for me to get back into blog post/review writing mode and mindset but I got there eventually!
Books read this month:
- Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson (ARC, 5 stars)
- Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark (3.5 stars)
- The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert (2 stars)
- Eat the Ones You Love by Sarah Maria Griffin (4.5 stars)
- Tell Me What You Did by Carter Wilson (4.5 stars)
- We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han (reread, 3.5 stars)
- Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham (ARC, 4.5 stars)
- Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister (4 stars)
- Only When It’s Us by Chloe Liese (2 stars)
- The Hunting Wives by May Cobb (1 star)
- The Novel Killings by Kate Shelton (0.5 stars)
Blog posts and vlogs I loved this month:
- I’ve been seeing Isn’t It Obvious by Rachel Runya Katz around bookish spaces for a while, but Helena’s review has for sure convinced me that I need to read it!
- Robin always has great romance recs, so I loved her review of Never Over by Claire Gilmore and I’ll definitely be adding this to my tbr!
- I always love catch up posts where people share what they’ve been reading, watching, listening to, etc. so Lila’s Hot Girl Summer post was so fun to read!
- July is Disability Pride Month, and I thought that Lila’s post on How The Literary Community Can Be More Welcoming To Disabled Readers is a must read for everyone in the community! It’s so important that when we think of reading diversely, we’re making sure to not ignore or forget members of the disabled community.
My posts this month:
- Quarterly Stats
- Mid Year Freak Out Tag
- 30 Plays in 30 Days Wrap Up/Mini Reviews
- Not Quite Dead Yet Review
- Summerween Wrap Up/Mini Reviews

The highlight of this month for me was that the touring production of & Juliet was in town for the entire month basically and I got to see it 4 times. I’ve been looking forward to this July since last year when tickets went on sale, and it truly was so wonderful! You know that trend that’s going around that’s like a video with the text “You look happier” “Thanks, I ____” ? That was me this month because I saw & Juliet 4 times. This musical truly brings me so much joy and it’s absolutely what kept me going this month.
Getting to see new performers in these roles was amazing as well! I love this cast and their dynamic and felt so lucky to get to see them multiple times and to finally get to share this show live with my mom, sister and one of my best friends!

Other than seeing & Juliet this month, I didn’t really do much besides work 🤣but I’m not really mad about that because seeing & Juliet 4 times was enough excitement for me. I did set up my August bullet journal theme, which was Taylor Swift themed and oh my gosh, I’m SO happy with how it turned out! I got these fun stencils to use to create friendship bracelets (I truly cannot draw a non-wonky circle to save my life), stars and confetti and it turned out so wonderfully!

At the end of June I found a new podcast to listen to, Even The Royals, and I’m obsessed! I love history and while I have opinions on royal families in general, I love royal history and this podcast is all about royal history from all over the world. I’ve been listening obsessively and learning more about royals that I already knew about and have researched before, and learned about royals and dynasties that I’ve never heard of before. The hosts, Brooke Siffrinn and Aricia Skidmore-Williams have the perfect blend of humor, commentary and retelling these royal stories. If you like podcasts and history, I’d definitely recommend this one!
I’ve spoken before about my love-hate relationship with True Crime because I do think that often it becomes sensationalized and the victims and the human aspects of the stories are taken away. However, I think it is important to consume True Crime stories because it can help us recognize the signs and red flags in relationships for ourselves, our loved ones, and can help protect us, especially women moving forward. All of that said, because of those feelings, whenever I find True Crime media to consume, I try to make sure that it’s something that is sharing the facts and stories, has a focus on the victims and isn’t sensationalizing these stories. Which is why I’ve been obsessively listening to Crime Junkie this month.
I’ve started from the beginning of the podcast and they’ve covered cases that I know and have researched a lot, and many cases that I’d never heard of. What I appreciate most about this podcast is that hosts Ashley Flowers (who I just found out is an author and I’ll have to check out her books!) and Brit Prawat take every crime and victim seriously, are focused on doing what they can to help bring justice for these families, share resources and never let their audience forget about the fact that these are true events that happened to real people and that the repercussions of what happened don’t end after we’ve stopped listening to a podcast episode. If you’re interested in True Crime, then you should definitely be listening to the Crime Junkie podcast!
Obviously, I have been obsessively watching season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty. I have been waiting for this for SO LONG and I’m so excited that it’s finally time to return to Cousins! Other than TSITP, I’ve been watching some documentaries and rewatching Gilmore Girls.

No real music hyperfixation moments happened for me this month. It’s mostly just been the same music wise. I did listen to Del Water Gap’s new song How to Live and really enjoyed it. As always, here’s my monthly playlist!

This month was basically all work and the & Juliet tour, which I am not mad about! We have one week left of camp and then I get to take some vacation time in August, which I’m really looking forward to!
What was July like for you? Tell me what you read, what you did, I wanna know it all!
Until next time 💜
