ARC Review: Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto

Meddy Chan has been to countless weddings, but she never imagined how her own would turn out. Now the day has arrived, and she can’t wait to marry her college sweetheart, Nathan. Instead of having Ma and the aunts cater to her wedding, Meddy wants them to enjoy the day as guests. As a compromise, they find the perfect wedding vendors: a Chinese-Indonesian family-run company just like theirs. Meddy is hesitant at first, but she hits it off right away with the wedding photographer, Staphanie, who reminds Meddy of herself, down to the unfortunately misspelled name.

Meddy realizes that is where their similarities end, however, when she overhears Staphanie talking about taking out a target. Horrified, Meddy can’t believe Staphanie and her family aren’t just like her own, they are The Family–actual mafia, and they’re using Meddy’s wedding as a chance to conduct shady business. Her aunties and mother won’t let Meddy’s wedding ceremony become a murder scene–over their dead bodies–and will do whatever it takes to save her special day, even if it means taking on the mafia.

Mini Reviews: The Heartbreak Bakery, The Haunting of Hill House, Fake It Till You Bake It, & How We Fall Apart

Hello friends! We’re halfway through March, which is just plain crazy! How’re you doing with your reading goals? Things have been going well for me so far! As of this post, I’ve read 10 books this month and I just hit 50 books read this year, which was my goal for the end of the month so I’m feeling pretty confident right now!

I’m in the middle of 3 books right now and hoping to finish all 3 and start more by the end of the weekend. Last weekend was pretty busy, so I didn’t have as much time to read as I would’ve liked. That being said, I thought that it would be fun to post some mini reviews this week!

Features: Allison Saft, A Far Wilder Magic, and Animal Crossing!

Hello hello, friends! Happy Friday! I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe! Grab a cup of tea, or another warm beverage of your choice, and get cozy. We’ve got a guest here today at tea time lit, and it’s a post that I’ve wanted to do for a really long time! 

As you may know, I’m a huge Animal Crossing fan. Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved playing Animal Crossing — in fact, I named my childhood dog after KK Slider himself. So you can only imagine my excitement when Allison Saft was down to visit tea time lit again for A Far Wilder Magic’s release, and to decorate her island as the world of A Far Wilder Magic for a post! 

When Margaret Welty spots the legendary hala, the last living mythical creature, she knows the Halfmoon Hunt will soon follow. Whoever is able to kill the hala will earn fame and riches, and unlock an ancient magical secret. If Margaret wins the hunt, it may finally bring her mother home. While Margaret is the best sharpshooter in town, only teams of two can register, and she needs an alchemist.

Weston Winters isn’t an alchemist–yet. Fired from every apprenticeship he’s landed, his last chance hinges on Master Welty taking him in. But when Wes arrives at Welty Manor, he finds only Margaret and her bloodhound Trouble. Margaret begrudgingly allows him to stay, but on one condition: he must join the hunt with her.

ARC Review: Ophelia After All by Racquel Marie

ARC Review: Dream, Annie, Dream by Waka T. Brown
