Hi, hello everyone! Welcome back to our frequent friends, and welcome to our newer friends joining us today! We’re super excited to be bringing you our monthly wrap up for November, and we cannot believe it is nearly the end of 2022!
This month Caitlyn read 26 books, Cossette read 22 books, and Mary read 7 books.
This month started off really strong, and then I kind of petered out and picked up again towards the end of the month. I ended up reading 26 books, and really loved a lot of them! I finally got around to reading the graphic novel Twelfth Grade Night, which has been on my TBR for a while as it’s a retelling of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night — my favorite of the comedies — and I loved every second of it! I don’t actually own any physical graphic novels, but I’m really considering purchasing this one because of how much I adored it. Some other new reads that I absolutely adored were The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna (I’m SO excited it’s our December tea time reads pick!), Kill Joy and Five Survive by Holly Jackson, and If You Could See the Sun by Ann Liang. I also finished my annotations of Macbeth and Sense and Sensibility, which felt like a huge accomplishment since I take much longer to annotate Shakespeare and classics than I do any other genres. On Tuesday, I listened to the audiobooks of Steel Magnolias and Twelfth Night (two of my favorites) produced by LA Theatre Works and both were wonderful. Next month I’m hoping to read all my ARCs — which is quite a goal so I won’t be too disappointed if I don’t accomplish it, but I definitely would love to try as it would be nice to start the new year with no left over ARCs!

Posts I Loved Reading:
- We all know that I’m in my annotation era, and I love talking to people about their annotations. I loved Kate’s “Classics I Want to Annotate” post! There are some classics on here that I’m planning on annotating and some that I want to check out as well.
- I adored Delilah Green Doesn’t Care and have really been looking forward to Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail. Robin’s review definitely made me more excited to read Astrid Parker!
- Personally, I feel like as a content creator, I have an obligation to critically look at the media that I am posting or promoting on the blog or my bookstagram feed and really loved Kate’s post about critical reading and why it’s important for bookish influencers.
I had a pretty steady start to November, but then hit a bit of a slump in the middle. Even still, I ended up reading 22 books this month. My favorite read of the month was How to Excavate a Heart by Jake Maia Arlow and Happy Place by Emily Henry! This month, I worked on a lot of rereads and annotation projects, and I’m hoping to do the same next month! I also put off most of my ARCs, so I’ll have to tackle all of them next month.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I really enjoyed Kate’s post on why everyone should read middle grade! One of my goals this year was to read more middle grade, and while that didn’t really happen, I’m excited to do that next year!
- Saima is one of the main reasons I read The Atlas Six, so I’ve been really looking forward to their review of The Atlas Paradox!
- I don’t read as many indie authors as I’d love to, so I was so glad to see them featured on Leo’s 22 Queer Books to Read in 2022 & 2023 post!
- If You Could See the Sun was one of my favorite books last month — and definitely in my Top 10 books of 2022! Needless to say, I adored Gauri’s interview.
- As a Swiftie, I loved this Midnights Book Tag, and added some of these picks that I’ve never heard of to my TBR!
- I’ve been thinking about how I want to restructure my wrap up posts for 2023, and I loved reading Sumedha’s ideas on what to include in monthly wrap ups!
What started out as a slow month gradually got better for me, and I read a total of 7 books! For someone who has spent most of the year in a slump, I’m super proud of my efforts. This month I read my beloved The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, and reading that always feels like coming home. I also picked up Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manansala for book club (spoiler – I adored this book) and The Getaway by Lamar Giles! I read a good range of different genres this month, and I’m glad/relieved to finally be back reading. When not reading, I have been loving playing Pokémon: Violet on my Nintendo Switch! It’s a super fun game, and a great way to listen to audiobooks.

- The Weight of Blood seems like such a good read, and Amy Leigh’s review has only made me want to read it more! Please be warned though that her review contains spoilers!
- Jeann from Happy Indulgence Books wrote a fantastic review of The Killing Cove! This one immediately went onto my tbr, and I look forward to picking it up!
- I loved Kira Jeanette’s end of 2022 year tag, and it’s definitely one I will be considering participating in towards the end of the year!
Thank you for reading our wrap up! We look forward to seeing you next month!
