Hi, hello friends! Another month is done and dusted and we can’t believe how quickly it’s come and gone. We hope you had a lovely September!
A quick reminder that Mary is on an indefinite hiatus, and you can catch up with her on @bookswithmary !
This month Caitlyn read 18 books, and Cossette read 20 books.
This has been a weird reading month. There were some books that I really loved, but the majority of my reads just fell a little flat for me, which is a bit of a bummer. Some new reads this month that I particularly loved were Emma Lord’s latest Begin Again, The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School by Sonora Reyes, and Normal People by Sally Rooney. What’s more exciting though is that this month I hit my 2022 reading goal of 200 books! I’m really thrilled that I was able to accomplish my goal with 3 months of the year left, and I’m excited to see how many more I can read before the end of the year! I am definitely feeling the spooky vibes so I’ve got a lot of thriller/horror books on my tbr for October, I’m also really excited to read The Witch Haven and The Witch Hunt, as well as The Atlas Paradox! I’ll also be doing some Shakespeare and Jane Austen annotations, so October is going to be a busy reading month for me!

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I really enjoyed Alison Ames’ first book, To Break a Covenant, but had no clue that her next book It Looks Like Us was coming out this year. Aro from ohnobooks review made me really excited to get my hands on a copy!
- The way that I’m torn between not wanting 2023 to arrive because how the heck is that a real year, and wanting it to arrive quickly because this list has SO MANY amazing books on it! I loved Cande Reads post +40 2023 Latine Releases to Add to Your TBR and trust me when I say that my TBR just got a lot longer!
- I’ve shared some of my love for middle grade books on the blog (there may be a post in the works surrounding that) so I love this list of 15 Diverse Middle Grade books from Aster Marie at Happy Bookish After!
- TBH if Kate likes it, I’m most likely going to check it out. I heard about Death by Society from Kate’s post 5 Reasons Why Death by Society Should Be Your Next Read and it definitely got me excited! I got a free kindle copy the other day (it’s available for free through today!) and I can’t wait to read it!
- Who would I be if I did not shout out my bestie, Helena? I was so excited for Helena to read Begin Again by Emma Lord as we’re both huge fans and I’m so glad that she loved it! You can read her review here
This month was also a weird reading month for me! Aside from rereads, most of my reads were pretty disappointing ones. I had the best time working on my annotations for Normal People, Babel, Alone with You in the Ether, and The Witch Haven, and really loved listening to The Switch, Daisy Jones and the Six, and Beautiful World, Where Are You? on audiobook. Next month, I’m hoping to read This is How You Lose the Time War, Little Women, A Dowry of Blood, and The Cloisters.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I read and absolutely detested Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch this month, and was appalled at how no one seemed to call out any of the racism in it. I found Claire’s post from a few years back, and highly recommend people read this if they plan on reading The Goldfinch, or if they’ve already read it.
- As someone who has a habit of collecting too many things, and a hard time of letting go of things, I really appreciated Kate’s How I Unhaul Books post! I’ll definitely be using some of these tips to decide which ones I keep next time I do a little clean up!
- Abby’s book recs list of 15 Books by Latine Authors had me adding a bunch of books to my TBR & placing a ton of holds on Libby! Let’s just hope they don’t all show up at the same time!
- I’m not very good at DNFing, and so I really appreciated T.K.’s post on To DNF or Not to DNF!
- I highly recommend checking Fanna’s blog for all the things, but her post on 21 Books Set Against The Backdrop of British Colonisation of India, The Subcontinent’s Independence & The Partition is one that you have to check out!
And there we have it! Thanks so much for reading our September wrap up, and we’ll see you next month for even more books we’ve read this year!
