Another month has come and gone, which means it’s time for another wrap up post! July was a pretty busy month for all of us but we’re excited to share what we read in July!
A quick reminder that Mary is on an indefinite hiatus, and you can catch up with her on @bookswithmary!
This month Caitlyn read 27 books, and Cossette read 25 books.
July has been a really weird reading month. I started off the month with a very annoying cold and didn’t want to read anything. Then, the majority of the books I read just were not my vibe and I felt myself slumping. The month turned around though as I started doing some rereads and found some new books that were much more enjoyable than the others I had read and ended up reading 27 books. Some standouts this month were Death by Bubble Tea by Jennifer J. Chow and Echo After Echo by A.R. Capetta. I also loved my rereads of Morgan Matson’s Since You’ve Been Gone, M.L. Rio’s If We Were Villains, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and Emily Henry’s Book Lovers. I’m taking 2 weeks off of work in August, so I’m hoping to do a lot of reading then and of course, at the top of the list is our August TeaTimeReads pick, Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li

Posts I Loved Reading:
- My TBR list is already like 800 pages long and I truly will never get through all the books on it, but I absolutely had to add some of the selections from Gauri’s list of Books by Asian Authors July to December 2022. There are so many books I want to read on this list and I can’t wait to get to all of them!
- If y’all did not know, Kate over at YourTitaKate is one of my favorite bloggers and just all around wonderful person, and I absolutely loved her post on Finding Your Blogging Voice. It can feel super intimidating to just jump into the blogging world and I think that this is the perfect post to check out if you’re thinking about starting a blog!
- Earlier this month I participated in the #MatatagAtMatapangTour for Elisa A. Bonnin’s debut novel Dauntless and I absolutely loved this review by fellow tour host Sage at SageShelves!
- Veronica’s review of Sarah Henning’s It’s All in How You Fall made me so excited to read this fun sports themed summer romance! I also laughed so hard when one of my tweets made an appearance in the post – thanks again Veronica!
- I’m not sure if I’ll be able to participate in Wikathon 3 this year but I’m for sure going to try! And I think that Shealea put together a great list of books to read for it!
I had a lot of personal things this month that got in the way of reading, but I still managed to read 25 books. This month, I finally gave Wibbroka a second try after not loving What’s Not to Love, and With or Without You, and absolutely adored their older works — Time of Our Lives, Always Never Yours and If I’m Being Honest. I also got approved for an ARC of their newest YA — Never Vacation with Your Ex, as well as their newest adult — Do I Know You? and thoroughly enjoyed it. I finally finished Sally Rooney’s Normal People, and it’s quickly made its way into being one of my favorite books ever. I’m hoping to wrap up on some of my current annotation projects next month, and also catch up on some ARCs next month! As always, I’m super excited for our book club pick, Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I’m a big fan of book unhauling, and I try to unhaul my books every few months, so I extremely appreciated this subtle reminder to unhaul my own books — and more importantly, the tips that 24hryabookblog put together for book unhauling!
- I loved Inking and Thinking’s 85+ books with Disability Representation // Celebrating Disability Pride Month post, and added a ton of them to my own TBR!
- Lila’s post on why she doesn’t set reading goals was so intriguing to me — I often set too many reading goals, and get a little stressed out for the reasons listed, and made me rethink my relationship with reading goals!
- If You Could See the Sun has been on my TBR forever, and I loved Michelle’s review of it! I’m even more excited for publication day.
- I knew that I couldn’t commit to doing another readathon this summer, given my busy schedule, but I’ve been staring at every Wikathon 3 post from afar and adding recs to my TBR like no one’s business. YourTitaKate’s newest, 10 Non-Tagalog Authors to Check Out for Wikathon, was lovely, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can join in for Wikathon 4 next year!
- DoveyReads’ Instagram Engagement guide was quite literally the most helpful thing I’ve laid my eyes on, ever, as a fellow bookstagrammer, so I’d be remiss if I didn’t include a link here!
We hope that you had a great reading month — let us know what you read in the comments! We’ll see you next month!
