Hi, hello friends! Like most people, I adore audiobooks. I love putting my earphones in and getting lost in a book, all while doing another task at the same time. Due to listening to them at double speed (I physically cannot pay attention to them if they are not on 2x speed), I get through them pretty quickly so I’m always on the hunt for a new one. My personal favourite service for audiobooks is Scribd, and while this post is not sponsored, it’s a service I never shut up about. Their selection is so fantastic, I can almost always find my next audiobook on there. So, I thought it would be fun to go through their library and pick out some books I hope to listen to this year. Be sure to let me know in the comments below if you’ve ready any of these books! Without anything further, let’s get into the list!
- Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson
I don’t know a lot about this book, but it has been on my radar for so long. This book is about a girl named Monday who goes missing, and yet only her best friend seems to notice. I love mystery novels, and I especially love listening to them via audiobooks. I’m not sure why, but it just makes the plot more interesting to follow for whatever reason. Maybe it’s because it makes me feel like I’m solving the case alongside our main characters? While I haven’t heard much about this book, it seems to have a lot of good reviews on Goodreads, and I can’t wait to dive into it soon. It seems like a book I am going to love.
- Descendant of the Crane by Joan He
This is another book that has been on my radar for a long time, and yet I haven’t picked it up. I absolutely adored He’s other book, The Ones We’re Meant to Find, and I know I’m going to love this one too. A Chinese inspired fantasy, Descendant of the Crane tells the story of what happens when Hesina engages the aid of a soothsayer to aid her suffering kingdom, despite magic being outlawed. I love fantasy, and I know I will love nothing more than getting lost in Joan He’s lush writing style while either playing my Switch, journaling or even just pottering around the house.
- Horrid by Katrina Leno
I don’t ever read horror, I’m far too much of a baby for that, but this one seems extremely compelling. I admit, the cover is what first drew me in, but the premise of this novel sounds too good to miss. Moving house after her father died, Jane discovers a secret room in her mother’s childhood home that has some unexplained things attached to it. To top it all off, there’s a mystery that needs solving and I am admittedly very keen to jump in and figure out what happens. I definitely won’t be listening to this one at night, but it seems like the perfect way to spend my commute to work.
- The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Okay, I will admit the only reason why I will be listening to this book is due to the sheer size of it. I often look at it when I’m in the bookstore and get immediately overwhelmed, so there is no way I would be able to read a physical copy of it. I know a few people who loved this book, and I love high fantasy, so I have some pretty high hopes for this one. This book has everything you’d want: magic, dragons, royalty and so much more. I know this one will take me a while, so I’ll definitely be pacing myself with it. I can’t wait to jump in, though!
- Small Favours by Erin A. Craig
Unsurprisingly, another fantasy has made its way onto this list! This was another one that drew me in due to the gorgeous cover, but the blurb has sold it to me further. This book seems like it’s going to be a super interesting book set in a magical small town, with a plot that’s compelling and fast. After reading some reviews I think this book is going to be rather unsettling due to the intense atmosphere, so I definitely won’t be reading this one at night either. However, I’m super excited to get into this one, especially because it’s been on my backlog for a while now.
And there we have it – five audiobooks I’m hoping to listen to in 2022. Let me know your thoughts down below, and let me know what you’re hoping to listen to this year as well!
Happy reading!

Monday’s Not Coming is also on my audiobook TBR! I’m also particularly excited about The Girl’s I’ve Been, Iron Widow, A Memory Called Empire and Light from Uncommon Stars! My audiobook TBR just keeps growing and growing and I’m not complaining.

I’ll definitely have to add some of these to my list because I’ve been getting more into audiobooks – I actually started Horrid a while back before my library loan expired but can already tell that the narration gives the book the perfect extra bit of shivers!
