Hello friends! Another month, another wrap up. We’re so excited to be giving you an update on our June reading today. It’s been a productive month for all of us, and we cannot wait to see where the rest of the year takes us. Without further adieu, let’s start this wrap up.
This month Caitlyn read 10 books, Cossette read 40 books, and Mary read 8 books.
This has been a really difficult reading month. I’ve read 10 books this month, and if we’re being honest, I’m trying really hard to not beat myself up over how much difficulty I’ve had with reading in June. It’s been a real struggle to find time/motivation to read as I’ve gone back to working in person this month. While the number of books I read this month was definitely low, I did read some quality books! 8 of my 10 reads I rated between 4 and 5 stars. I started reading Sonali Dev’s Jane Austen retellings and really enjoyed Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors. I’m still reeling over The Obsession and The Girls I’ve Been – both books blew my mind. I finally read The Atlas Six after hearing so many amazing things about it, and overall I enjoyed it and will definitely be checking out the next book in the series. I once again reread my favorite, If We Were Villains and I’m still emotional, please respect my privacy at this time. Next month I’m looking to get through some ARCS. I’m also hoping to get around to some of the books on my shelves that I haven’t read yet, as well as our TeaTimeReads pick, The Ones We’re Meant to Find.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- Celina put The Mad Woman’s Ball on my radar with this review and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy – this book sounds right up my alley!
- As I’m a huge musical theatre nerd (I know, you’re shocked) I’ve been looking forward to the In The Heights film for a long time now. I loved reading my best friend Helena’s thoughts on the film! If you’re a fan of musicals I definitely recommend checking out the film.
- I really liked Birdie’s post about her most anticipated July releases. I love posts like this as I usually find out about new books that immediately go onto my TBR.
- I’ve been wanting to read the Brown Sisters series for a while now, and I really enjoyed Angele’s review of Act Your Age, Eve Brown. It’s made me more excited to read the series and I’m hoping to get to it in July.
I think I’m on a reading roll here, having read 36 books last month and 40 this month! I started this month with a loose TBR, and a hope to make a huge dent in my list of ARCs! Unfortunately, it feels like Olivia Rodrigo’s song 1 step forward, 3 steps back describes my relationship with ARCs — every time I read one, I get approved for 3 more. Not that I’m complaining too much, because I’ve got some really exciting ones lined up! I’ve made some good progress on my backlist, and I’ve also read a lot of phenomenal books this month, such as This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron, Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson, Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim, and Tess Sharpe’s The Girls I’ve Been. Next month, I’m really excited to get through some more ARCs, participate in the name-athon readathon, and to also finally read the Talia Hibbert’s Brown Sisters series!

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I loved reading Gauri’s Hana Khan Carries On review! I really enjoyed Ayesha at Last when I read it last year, so I’ve been pretty excited for Hana Khan — this review just bumped it up my TBR!
- We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This is one of my recent favorites, and really enjoyed reading Saniya’s thoughts on it!
- Bertie’s “Do We Let Queer Characters Be Messy?” discussion was one that really stuck with me; I’ve seen queer characters be miscategorized as “morally grey” when they were just messy and young, or held to different standards, and so I really appreciated Bertie taking the time to write up this post!
- Jayati was kind enough to feature me on their blog in a post about Why Queer Books Matter [ft. 4 amazing queer book bloggers talking about the books that made them feel seen]! I always love getting queer book recs, and will definitely be checking some of them out!
- My dearest friend, Robin, launched her book blog this month, and I loved reading her wonderful review of Gearbreakers. I’ve loved reading her reviews on Instagram and Goodreads, and cannot wait to read her reviews on her blog!
I started off the month in a reading slump, but it soon fixed itself by the end of the month. I read a total of eight books this month, and most of them were super good! I have a few favourites, and books I definitely can’t wait to reread. My first read of the month was Hang the Moon by Alexandria Bellefluer, and I absolutely adored it! I wrote a full review for the book, which you can read here, but this was such a good choice to kick off the month. My favourite book of the month was, hands down, the teatimelit June pick Ace of Spades. This book still plays on my mind even to this day, and I cannot wait to reread. I’m thinking about picking up the audiobook just to experience it in another format. Cossette wrote a full review of Ace of Spades for the blog, which you can read here! Throughout the month of June, Cossette and Caitlyn have hyped up The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe, and it was yet another book I adored this month. This book was so fun and fast paced, and I adored every single moment of it. I credit the combination of Ace of Spades and The Girls I’ve Been as the books that got me out of my reading slump! I finally got around to reading You Have a Match by Emma Lord, and I’m so glad I did! This is another one that Cossette and Caitlyn love and continuously told me to read, and I finally got around to picking up a physical copy and reading it. I loved every minute of this book, and there’s a full review on the blog here.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- Amy Leigh over at amyleighreads shared her updated anticipated 2021 reads, and there are so many good books on there that I’ve added to my tbr
- Saniya at sunnysidereviews wrote a lovely review of A Place Called Perfect by Helena Duggan. The cover of this book is so cute, and I loved reading her thoughts.
- Mogsy at bibliosanctum wrote an awesome review of For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten, which has made me even more excited to pick this book up.
Thank you so much for reading! Be sure to let us know below what books you read this month.

40 books?? That’s amazing Cossette! Similar with Mary, I also started the month with an (almost) reading slump but by the end of the month, June was the best reading month so far in terms quality and quantity 🙂

Thank you so much for mentioning my post Mary!! It means a lot <3. I've been meaning to read Ace of Spades, but the size of the book is daunting to me. (Yes, I'm somewhat of a materialistic person.) I'm so glad you liked it though! Congrats on reading so much Cossette, that's awesome! and ugh yes, I can totally relate. I'm happy that I get approved for arcs, but my oh my do I need to start reading more of them. Ten books is still amazing, and is actually my goal Caitlyn! I've also been meaning to read Sonali Dev's series. It just looks so fun! Amazing wrap-up guys! <33
