Who else is in denial that we’re already through the first quarter of 2025? Honestly, what the hell, how is it April? Anyway, I decided that this year instead of adding my quarterly stats in my monthly wrap up at the end of each quarter, I would dedicate an entire post solely to my quarterly stats.
Get comfy, and cozy and let’s talk about my stats for January through March!

We’ll start with the basic stats! In the first three months of the year, I read a total of 43. I read 16 books in January, 15 books in February, and 12 in March. The breakdown of format for this quarter is 11 physical reads, 14 audiobooks, 16 ebooks, and 2 immersive reads where I read them physically while also listening to the audiobook. I did have 1 DNF as well. Something else that is interesting is that I’ve only had 1 reread so far this year, which was Emily Henry’s Funny Story for book club! We did have These Violent Delights as our March read but I didn’t end up getting to it, though I am counting it as a book read for book club because I’ve read it like 4 times and pretty much have it memorized.

In the first quarter I read 8,719 pages and listened to 67.66 hours of audiobooks which translates to: 3,119 pages and 24.32 hours in January, 3,049 pages and 20.51 hours in February, and 2,551 pages and 22.83 hours in March.

As per usual, I read mostly novels. 88.4% of my reads were novels with novella’s coming in next at 9.3% and non-fiction at 2.5%. Something else I love to keep track of is how I got my books. As per usual, the library was leading the group at 34.9% (a reminder to utilize your local libraries, besties!), next with 25.6% were books I already owned, which is great because I am working on getting through my physical TBR. The rest of the stats were ARCs at 18.6%, Kindle Unlimited with 7%, Spotify and Audible with 4.7%, books I recently purchased and book box books at 2.3%.

Back in January I posted my 25 in 2025 and ended up reading 9/25 of the books in this first quarter, which is about 20% of my quarterly reads and I think that’s pretty good! I actually didn’t expect the number to be that high and I’m glad I’ve made a good dent in the list to start the year. I think I’m on a good path to completing the list by the end of the year. The banner shows the order that I read them in, but if I had to rank them they’d go in the following order
- Water Moon
- Done and Dusted
- A Daughter of Fair Verona
- Gifted & Talented
- A Dark and Drowning Tide
- I Am Made of Death
- My Darling Dreadful Thing
- First-Time Caller
- They Bloom At Night
Really, everything from Water Moon to I Am Made of Death I really really enjoyed and all of those I would reread. I liked My Darling Dreadful Thing a lot, though I wouldn’t reread it and I’m really excited to read Johanna van Veen’s next release. Both First-Time Caller and They Bloom At Night were just okay for me, but I liked They Bloom At Night far more than I enjoyed Trang Thanh Tran’s debut, She Is a Haunting, which I’m taking as a win.

I ended up having four 5 star reads in the first quarter. I Am Not Jessica Chen by Ann Liang, Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao, For the Record by Emma Lord and Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins. All of these books I breezed through and could not put down; I had expected I Am Not Jessica Chen, For the Record and Sunrise on the Reaping to be 5 stars and I was so glad that they were! Water Moon was the one that snuck up on me, but I really connected with it.
I was so happy to have four 5 star reads in the first quarter of the year and I’m very curious to see which books will (hopefully) end up being 5 stars in this second quarter.

How many books did you read this quarter? What were your favorites? Tell me all the things in the comments!
Until next time
