hello, sweet friends 💌 i hope march treated you well! as usual, i’m writing this wrap up in the notes app on my phone! and as is the norm, i get a little rambly and chatty, so grab a cup of tea or coffee or whatever your preferred beverage is, and get cozy! 🧸
this march, i read a total of 20 books, and i found myself really enjoying a lot of the books i read! some standouts were when broadway was black: the triumphant story of the all-black musical that changed the world by caseen gaines, and elaine castillo’s how to read now — both of which were nonfiction reads that i’d been eagerly anticipating!

i feel like i’ve been in a weird headspace for the last few months — i’ve just been in the weirdest reading and creative slump (which you might’ve already noticed, especially if you follow me over on some of my other socials — especially tumblr) lately, but i think what i’m going to do is give myself some grace by aiming to read reading “fewer” books in april, prioritizing some annotation projects that i started earlier this year, and maybe rereading some of my favorites to remind me of why i love reading. part of this is, i think that i got overwhelmed with the amount of ARCs and gifted books i got (some of which i still have yet to read), and then stopped reading for fun or for myself. i’m hoping to balance things out and work on that soon.
this month, i spent a lot of time listening to taylor swift, the 1975, inhaler, maisie peters — the usual, really! thanks to the magic of livestreams, i also attended every show of the eras tour so far via instagram and tiktok lives. there’s truly nothing like a taylor swift concert, and i couldn’t be more excited to see her this july. speaking of concerts, i saw inhaler in concert this month! that’s right, the silly little asthma band that i got into as a joke. this was my first concert in ages, and i just had a total blast! i also finished a fleabag rewatch, and i think i might do a normal people rewatch soon too!
i’ve got a pretty busy april lined up, and i’m super excited, honestly! by the time this is posted, i’ll have gone to yet another hockey game — the seattle kraken vs. arizona coyotes! i’ve also got two concerts this month — sabrina carpenter, and eleri ward! if you like musical theatre, or indie folk songs, i’d highly recommend checking eleri ward out! and sabrina’s music is just fun; i can’t wait to see her this month, and then again later this year at lollapalooza. i’ve also got record store day, where i’m hoping to pick up some good finds; keep your fingers crossed for me!
in case you’ve missed it, here are some posts i wrote this month:
- arc review: the fiancée farce by alexandria bellefleur
- review: vera wong’s unsolicited advice for murderers by jesse q. sutanto
- arc review: not here to stay friends by kaitlyn hill
- review: chloe and the kaishao boys by mae coyiuto
and some posts i loved reading:
- my friend lay is back from their hiatus! go send her some love!
- as y’all know, i’ve been in the biggest slump, so i’m definitely checking out some of the books on may’s “12 books to read when you’re in a reading slump” list!
- i’m always looking for more books to add to my TBR, and fanna’s list of “21 new & upcoming books with autistic characters” was perfect for that!
- i loved reading robin’s post on her favorite reads of 2022, and added a few of these reads to my TBR too!

Oh no. I’m sad you didn’t like Fake Dates and Mooncakes. It’s on my Netgalley shelf.
