Hi, hello everyone! Another month is done and dusted, and we’re so excited to share what we read with you!
This month Caitlyn read 23 books, Cossette read 30 books, and Mary read 0 books.
I definitely feel like I say this every month, but it was a bit of a weird reading month. I started off really strong, finishing 9 books in the first 8 days of May, hit a little bit of a slump, got back on track and then kind of petered out at the end. It wasn’t a total loss though because I did end up reading 23 books. My favorite reads of the month were Emily Henry’s Book Lovers and People We Meet on Vacation and Grace D. Li’s Portrait of a Thief. I did a lot of rereading and did some annotating this month, which I always love! I’m planning on keeping my June reading schedule pretty open, as my work’s summer camp program begins on the 6th and I’ll be in charge of all 40+ camps, which will include lots of administrative work, answering parent questions, and guiding teachers as needed. I’m hoping to still get a lot of reading done, but I’m not going to try to set or stick to a schedule.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- April 30th is National Bubble Tea day, which is obviously a day that I love and celebrate. I thought that Veronica’s post over at Little Corner Reads pairing books with different types of bubble tea was such fun!
- Last month I read The Stand-In by Lily Chui via Audible because Philippa Soo was the narrator, and I found it to be a really sweet story. Andi’s review over at ohnobooks sums up my thoughts and feelings on the book really nicely! The Stand-In was released in paperback this month, and if you’re thinking about checking it out, you should read Andi’s review!
- I’ve definitely been curious about Amy Lea’s Set on You as it features a plus-sized fitness influencer as the main character. I’m a firm believer that we need more books that feature plus-sized mc’s, so that for sure makes me more excited to check it out. I really enjoyed Inah’s review, and I’ll be sure to pick up a copy of Set on You soon!
- It’s no secret that I am buzzing with excitement for Elisa A. Bonnin’s Dauntless and Stolen City to come out this July and September, and I loved Maddie’s interview with Elisa over at Inking & Thinking!
I started off this month strong, with Susan Risetti’s Cover Story completely blowing me away! I discovered a new favorite in Emily Henry’s Book Lovers (which no one is surprised by), and genuinely loved Christina Laurens’ Something Wilder, Peng Shepherd’s The Cartographers and The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School by Sonora Reyes. This month, I also read a couple of plays, and had a few rereads! I also made more headway into both my Ninth House and Pride and Prejudice annotations. Next month, I’m hoping to properly catch up on my ARCs — I know I say this every month, and I keep pushing them off. I’m doing a tiny bit of traveling next month, and have a lot of family stuff going on, so I’m not entirely sure what I’ll actually be able to read!

Posts I Loved Reading:
- As always, I’m a huge fan of Amanda and her blog, and I just had to include her interview with Lilly Lu on decolonizing story structure & literary form!
- Another interview I loved reading was Maria from The Character Study’s interview with Casey McQuiston! It gave me a deeper insight into I Kissed Shara Wheeler, and the characters within it. If you enjoyed IKSW, I highly recommend checking this interview out!
- I’ve been meaning to read more Family Saga books, and loved this list that Ali put together!
- Saima shared some dark academia recommendations, and while I’ve read some, I’m really excited to get to the ones I haven’t yet!
- Books about mental health are so important and necessary, and I’ve definitely added all of BookCheshireCat’s recommendations to my TBR!
Well, May was an epic failure for me. I started off the year so strong, and I can just sense it going downhill from here. I read a total of zero books this month, and while I’m disappointed to not have read anything, I’m glad I gave myself time to rest. This month was super, super busy for me so reading took the back burner. I’m excited to jump back into reading in the month of June, and hopefully read some exciting new releases. If you have any recommendations, let me know below!

Unfortunately due to my reading slump I didn’t get a chance to go blog hopping this month and support fellow creators. I look forward to catching up on posts and hyping everyone up next month!
Thanks so much for reading our wrap up post, we’ll see you next month!
