Hi, hello friends! We’re so excited to be sharing our April wrap up with you today, and we cannot believe how quickly the month flew by! We read some pretty good books this month, so stay tuned to see what we got to!
This month Caitlyn read 30 books, Cossette read 25 books, and Mary read 6 books.
Well, originally I thought that this month was going to be a slow month for me, but I ended up reading 30 books! So, definitely not a slow month for me! I read a lot of really good books this month, but my favorites were: Sense and Second Degree Murder, Accomplished, Pride and Prejudice (reread), The Murder of Mr. Wickham, Queen of the Tiles, and Cover Story to name a few! I made a nice dent in my ARCs this month and ended up reading 5, which is way more than I usually read in one month so I’m really happy about that. Next month I’m planning on doing more of my Jane Austen reread, more annotations and getting to some ARCs!

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I am obsessed with the game of Scrabble (the word obsessed will get you a base of point value of 11 btw) and have been playing with my family since I was 7. I heard about Hannah Alkaf’s YA Thriller Queen of the Tiles a little while ago, and it jumped to the top of my TBR. I read Kate’s review a few weeks before I read Queen of the Tiles myself, and it made me all the more excited!
- I’m all about retellings. I love seeing my favorite stories retold from a new lens and there are some really great sounding retellings coming out in 2022! Veronica’s post on 2022 Retellings has reminded me of just how many retellings I’m excited about are coming out this year and now that some of them are out, I definitely need to get my hands on them!
- We all know how much I love Shakespeare, and I loved these posts on Shakespeare’s Comedies and Shakespeare’s Heroines by Linda at Pages & Papers!
I hit a post-Bridgerton slump, and after reading romance after romance (partially Bridgerton, partially for tea time readings’ suggestions), I just didn’t want to read a romance book ever again. I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things though! I really enjoyed my reread of both the Heartstopper graphic novels, as well as Check, Please. Another new favorite of this month was She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott & Alyson Derrick. I just found it to be so sweet and cozy! I also really enjoyed reading R.F. Kuang’s Babel, and Olivie Blake’s Alone with You in the Ether. Next month, I’m actually excited to read some of my ARCs that I’ve been piling up — I know I’ve been saying I need to prioritize them, but I had forgotten how excited I was about them until I sat down to write my Exposing What’s on my Netgalley TBR post. I’ve also purchased quite a few books lately — some classics, and some plays, so I’m excited to annotate those as well.

Posts I Loved Reading:
- I’m a little biased here, but I loved reading Saima’s Animal Crossing Readathon Wrap Up, as well as their Book-themed Animal Crossing Islands post! Working with Saima over the last month and a half on the Animal Crossing readathon was a true delight and one of the highlights of my blogging career.
- I really enjoyed Kaya from afictionalbookworm’s Hotel Magnifique review! I didn’t love Hotel Magnifique as much as I was hoping to, but I also wasn’t really in the mood for it when I read the ARC. This review had me rethinking some of my thoughts, and putting it on the “to read again” shelf!
- I’ve been meaning to branch out more and explore new genres, so Amanda’s Space Opera post came out at the perfect time! I’ve added so many books here to my TBR!
- I’m a huge crier, so I found May at foreverandeverly’s Reading Books that I Think Will Make Me Cry post really entertaining! It’s made me want to do the same thing!
I started off pretty strong this month, but that ended up quietly dwindling away! Despite hitting a slump in the second half of the month, I read a total of 6 books and I’m quite pleased with that! My favourite books that I read this month was the Charlotte Homes Series by Brittany Cavallaro! I loved this series so much, and despite still needing to read the final book (thank you, reading slump), I cannot wait to reread. It had a lot of my favourite mystery tropes in it, and I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. Definitely pick it up if you’ve ever thought about it! Next month I’m hoping to get my reading back on track, and start some new series! If you have any recommendations, please let me know below.

- Jeann wrote a wonderful review of Gallant by V.E Schwab which I loved reading – I just discovered Jeann’s blog and loved their content already!
- Kristin @ Kristin Kraves Books wrote a fun post about UK vs US book covers, and it made me realise just how many book covers are different! I loved seeing the different options!
- Kaya @ afictionalbookworm spoke all about their most anticipated May releases, and I’ve definitely added some of those onto my own tbr! I didn’t realise so many good books were releasing next month!
