Hello friends! I know I covered two books that I loved in March over on our wrap up post, but I thought it would be fun to cover a couple more books and talk about what I liked about them. So, without further waiting, let’s get into the list!
- Hook, Line and Sinker by Tessa Bailey
I was a big fan of It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey, so I knew I would be picking up the sequel when it came out. Luckily for me, I loved Hook, Line and Sinker almost as much. I loved jumping back into this bright and fun world created by Bailey, with the band of characters we know and love. Fox and Hannah were such a wonderful couple, and I loved seeing them realise their love for each other and navigate through their changing relationship. This book was just as lighthearted as the first one, maintaining the same endearing and enjoyable vibe It Happened One Summer gave us. I know a lot of people prefer Hook, Line and Sinker when it comes to the two, but I think my heart still remains with Brendan and Piper. This book was honestly such a good sequel, and I loved that it gave the reader everything they wanted when it came to Fox and Hannah’s relationship. If you were thinking of picking up Hook, Line and Sinker after finishing It Happened One Summer, I highly recommend you do! It’s not one to be missed.

- The North Wind by Alexandria Warwick
I picked this one randomly off of my Kindle Unlimited library, and it was a pretty solid read! Billed as a Beauty and the Beast meets Persephone and Hades retelling, The North Wind was a pretty good fantasy read! While I don’t think this was perfect in terms of enemies-to-lovers satisfaction, it really makes up for it in the sheer amount of worldbuilding Warwick does to immerse her readers. You are transported to a high fantasy villager and beyond, witnessing magical creatures and spirits alike navigating their afterlife. In fact, I think the romance element was the weakest part, but I loved the world this book was set in enough to continue. I didn’t love Wren and the Frost King together, but individually they were very compelling characters, and I liked seeing their individual growth enough to keep going. Ultimately I gave this book ⅗ stars, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw this get progressively more popular on Booktok – it seems like it would be right up their alley. Definitely pick this up if you’re a fan of Scarlett St. Claire, I think you would get great enjoyment due to the books having similar vibes.

- Ophelia After All by Racquel Marie
This book was our March pick for teatimereads, and I really enjoyed it! I think this book is perfect for people wanting something more friend-focused, and despite having a romantic subplot, it never draws away from the platonic relationships growing throughout. This book truly is a refreshing, wholesome and warm coming of age story that follows boy-crazy Ophelia, and how she navigates developing feelings for another girl. Ophelia is an endearing and lovely protagonist to read about, and I think readers will get great emotional satisfaction watching her grow and develop through the course of the novel. I think she’s a very accurate portrayal of teenagers: impulsive, kind, and sometimes a bad decision maker, but you will find yourself rooting for her throughout the book. It’s been a long time since reading a character I’ve genuinely wanted to just hug and say everything will be ok, but Ophelia was definitely one of them. Cossette wrote a full review here, which goes into a bit more detail. I loved Ophelia After All, and I think it should be on everyone’s must-read list. I truly can’t wait to see what Racquel Marie writes next!
