I can’t believe 2021 is already almost over! Due to my November reading slump, I’ve accumulated many ARCs in the meantime, and am now paying the price for it. While I don’t think I’ll be able to read all of these books in December, I’m hoping to get through a large chunk of them — and I figured I’d share my TBR with you all. If you follow me on Twitter, you might’ve seen this Bingo Card I posted of my TBR too. Maybe all this accountability will help me get through my TBR!
The Bone Spindle by Leslie Vedder
I’m always down for retellings, and I haven’t read a lot of Indiana Jones or Sleeping Beauty retellings, so I’m really stoked for this one!

Chances for Serendipity by Natalie Chung
I haven’t been reading a lot of contemporary romance lately, so I’m super stoked to add Chances for Serendipity to my TBR for December! It seems light-hearted, and everything that I’ll want in a book.

Dream, Annie, Dream by Waka T. Brown ☆
I read Waka T. Brown’s memoir, While I Was Away last year, and loved it, so when Brown reached out to me to send me an ARC of her newest novel, I had to say yes! I can’t wait to read Dream, Annie, Dream, especially since I have many, many, thoughts on The King and I.

A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft ☆
In all honesty, I read A Far Wilder Magic a couple months ago, but I’ve been itching to reread it ever since. Allison Saft’s wonderful worldbuilding, and all the things I loved about Down Comes the Night is also present in A Far Wilder Magic. I simply can’t wait to reread it and write my review for the blog.

Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto ☆
Dial A for Aunties was a thrilling roller-coaster of a novel that left me in stitches, and I’m so lucky that I won the ARC for its sequel in a Goodreads giveaway! I’m so excited to read more about Meddy’s journey, and see what the aunties are up to now.

Great or Nothing by Joy McCulloughm Caroline Tung Richmond, Tess Sharpe, and Jessica Spotswood ☆
As you may know, I’m a huge fan of Little Women, so when I saw this ARC pop up on Netgalley, I just had to hit request! I’m intrigued by this reimaging of Little Women set in 1942, and can’t wait to see what the March sisters have in store for us this time.

I’m So (Not) Over You by Kosoko Jackson ☆
The majority of my ARCs are targeted towards YA, and while I do enjoy reading YA, I’m really excited for this contemporary adult romance! I really enjoyed Jackson’s Yesterday is History, and I’m sure I’ll love I’m So (Not) Over You too!

Kamila Knows Best by Farah Heron
I quite enjoyed Farah Heron’s Accidentally Engaged, and so when I heard Heron was writing an Emma retelling, I immediately added it to my TBR. Not to mention, a puppy prom? This book will be everything to me.

Kiss & Tell by Adib Khorram
I really loved Darius the Great is Not Okay, and I’m excited for Adib Khorram’s Kiss & Tell! I’m hopeful that this book is everything that I was hoping from another queer YA boyband story (and was very disappointed by). While I’m not a boyband person (in real life, nor in fiction), I’m hopeful that Kiss & Tell will offer a nuanced look at celebrity culture.

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
I’ve been itching to reread Legendborn since I first read it a year ago, and I’m so happy it’s our Tea Time Reads December book club pick! I’ve decided to listen to it on audiobook this time around, despite the fact that it’s almost 19 hours long, so I can listen to it while playing animal crossing, and doing other things.

Long Story Short by Serena Kaylor ☆
You can only imagine my excitement when I got the email about Long Story Short. A book about theatre camp named after a Taylor Swift song? What more could a girl want?

A Magic Steeped in Poison by Judy I. Lin ☆
With bloody court politics, secrets, backstabbing competitors, and poisonous tea, I couldn’t help but request A Magic Steeped in Poison. I cannot wait to get to it, especially since the synopsis reminds me of the Hong Kong television shows I grew up watching with my mom.

Midnight in Everwood by M.A. Kuzniar ☆
I’ve been intrigued by Midnight in Everwood ever since I heard about it — I love the Nutcracker, and this just sounds like everything that I’ve ever wanted! Also, can we talk about how absolutely stunning this cover is?

One For All by Lillie Lainoff ☆
Lillie Lainoff’s debut, One For All, is undoubtedly one of my most anticipated 2022 releases! It’s an ownvoices gender-bent retelling of the Three Musketeers, another retelling I don’t often see, with a chronically ill main character, and one that’s filled with strong female friendships.

Ophelia After All by Racquel Marie ☆
There aren’t enough words to say how excited I am to get to this one! I’ve been seeing it all over my feed, and I’ll be buddy reading it with Amanda, Birdie, Bella and Taylor.

Right Where I Left You by Julian Winters ☆
I’ve been meaning to make my way through Julian Winters’ books for ages, but haven’t gotten around to it still. I’ve enjoyed short stories of his in anthologies, however, and I cannot wait for Right Where I Left You — and you already know I’ll be blasting Right Where You Left Me by Taylor Swift while listening to it.

Scout’s Honor by Lily Anderson ☆
I was intrigued by this book the minute I saw the Stranger Things comparative title, and this concept just seems so fun. I can’t wait to buddy read this one with some friends!

Sunny G’S Series Of Rash Decisions by Navdeep Singh Dhillon ☆
The minute I saw that Sunny G was for fans of Sandhya Menon and Adam Silvera, I knew I had to add Sunny G’S Series Of Rash Decisions to my TBR. It looks like a promising story about a teen’s coming of age, and I cannot wait to read it!

With and Without You by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka ☆
I’ve heard really wonderful things about Wibbroka, and while I wasn’t enamoured by their high school rivals to lovers book (What’s Not To Love), I’m feeling hopeful for this one! After all, second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes!
