Happy October, besties! A lot of exciting things are happening this month and I am really looking forward to it, even if I think time is flying by too quickly. If you wanna know all about what I’ll be up to this month, keep reading!
After meticulously planning blog posts in July and August, September and October have had big “winging it” vibes around here.
As you all know, I’ve got a Fall TBR and a Halloween Season TBR, so I’ll be prioritizing those reads this month and other than that, I don’t have a whole lot of specific reading plans. As always, there are books coming out that I want to read, and I do have an ARC that comes out later this month so I’ll make sure to get that read before the release date, but other than that I’ll just be reading a lot of horror this month!
The goal is to complete my entire Halloween Season TBR and if so, I’ll probably share some mini reviews of all the books, or, who knows, maybe I’ll find a new favorite and share a full review. I’ve finally got my copy of Graveyard Shift by M.L. Rio, so you can expect a review of that one this month as well.
I feel like October is going to be a busy month. I’ve got a lot going on work wise; really the only downtime I have with work during the year is the very end of August and part of September, otherwise it’s go go go! I’m stage managing a show at the end of the month and then the day after we close that show I start rehearsals for my show, so this month I’ll have to do lots of prep work.
My mom’s birthday is in October and as a birthday gift to her I got us tickets to see the tour of Wicked since it’s here through the month. Wicked was the first touring show that my mom and I saw together, we saw it for my 16th birthday and it was so special, so I’m really excited to see it with her again all these years (and touring productions) later.
October will be quite the theatre month for me! And you all are sitting there going “Caitlyn, this is different how?” which, you’re not wrong about, but a lot is happening this month! As I mentioned, my mom and I are going to the Wicked tour and we’ll also be seeing Kelli O’Hara in concert later in the month, which I am SO excited about. I got to see Kelli O’Hara in the Kiss Me Kate revival and she was just incredible. I’ve been a huge fan of hers for years and am absolutely thrilled to be able to see her live again and this time in a concert setting.
I’m also taking a weekend trip to visit Helena and we’ll be going to the last performance for a huge amount of & Juliet cast members, including both of our favorite people in the show (we love them all, but we do have favorites). It’ll be a VERY emotional day, but I’m very grateful that I’ll get to be there and see my favorite people in my favorite show one last time with my best friend. We’re also seeing the new Romeo + Juliet starring Rachel Zegler and Kit Connor! I could not pass up an opportunity to see Romeo + Juliet, and it just makes sense that I’ll be having a Romeo and Juliet filled weekend.
I have a lot of horror movies that I want to watch this month, especially since I won’t have Giants baseball to watch, I need some things to watch in the evenings (yes, I will be watching postseason baseball, but I don’t watch as obsessively as I do when the Giants are playing). So, if you’ve got horror movie recs, feel free to leave them in the comments! Heartstopper season 3 comes out this month and the trailer looks amazing. I can’t wait to see how they continue to develop the relationships, both romantic and platonic, on screen, and I’m glad to see that they’re not shying away from the difficult topics the comics cover and based on the first 2 seasons, I’m sure it was done with the extreme care that it is in the comics. I’m also very excited to see Jonathan Bailey 😉
Kelsea Ballerini’s new album, Patterns, will be released on the 25th and I already know that I’ll be listening to it constantly. Kelsea is one of my favorite artists and her music just keeps getting better and better.
There are some Halloween themed things I want to do, like get pumpkins and paint them — that’s something my sister and I have done for the last few years which as been really fun and I think this year I’m going to go simple and paint some ghosts on my pumpkin since I’m all about the ghosts this year. I’d love to do some fall baking this month, but that really does depend on the weather. I saw some cookie recipes that I’m dying to do, and who knows, maybe I’ll finally start that Bake with Cait feature on the blog that I’ve been meaning to do for 2 years…a girl can dream!
What are your plans for October? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time 💜
Delaney
