Happy end of April! I really hope the saying “April showers bring May flowers” comes to fruition next month, because I was not a huge fan of the weather going from incredibly shiny to cold and rainy for a few weeks this month. Regardless of that, April was a nice, more relaxing month than the month before, so let’s chat about it!

I’ve decided April has been my best reading month of the year so far simply because I finally found a 5 star read and it was my first read of the month! Honestly, it was taking so long to get a 5 star read that I was worried that it just wasn’t going to happen, but it did and I couldn’t be happier about that!
I’m also very impressed with myself for reading 4 non fiction books this month! While I enjoy non fiction if it’s a topic I’m interested in, I don’t tend to reach for it too often, so the fact that I read 4 non fiction this month, 3 of which were on my owned tbr, is a pretty amazing feat, and all of them I really enjoyed!
Additionally, 9/13 reads this month were from my owned tbr which is a fantastic number and is probably the highest number of owned books I’ve read in one month since last June when I did my 30 plays in 30 days challenge, so I’m really happy about that!
Books read this month:
- The Rest is Silence by Yves Donlon (5 stars)
- I Could Give You the Moon by Ann Liang (4 stars, ARC)
- Beth is Dead by Katie Bernet (4 stars)
- Jane Austen’s Bookshelf by Rebecca Romney (4.75 stars)
- Bake, Borrow, and Steal by Ellie Alexander (3.5 stars)
- Donut Disturb by Ellie Alexander (3 stars)
- Shakespeare and the Gods by Virgina Mason Vaughan
- I, Medusa by Ayana Gray (4 stars)
- One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad (4 stars)
- Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister (3 stars)
- The Third Gilmore Girl by Kelly Bishop (unrated)
- The Fortune Flip by Lauren Kung Jessen (3.5 stars)
- The Caretaker by Marcus Kliewer (4 stars)
Blog posts and vlogs I loved this month:
- I loved Michelle’s review of I Could Give You the Moon!
- As someone who is also trying to read down her owned tbr, I always love Meg’s TBR 200 videos and her latest where she picked books based on matching their covers to the colors of the rainbow was so fun!
My posts this month:
- What We Did to Survive Review
- First Quarter Stats
- I Could Give You the Moon Review
- The Rest is Silence Review

April was a lot more relaxed than March was, and I am thankful for that, but I did do some fun things!
Most exciting for me, was that I got my first cap (for the players a cap is your first appearance with the team, and it’s called the same for the first time fans attend a match) with the US Women’s National Team! I got to go to their first of 3 matches against Japan during this international window. It was a cold and rainy day here, which was a bit out of the ordinary since it had been so warm and sunny a few weeks before, but we had such a great time! Team USA ended up winning 2-1, and my favorite player (yes, I could say this about all of the players on the team, but still), Rose Lavelle, not only made her 100th cap with the National Team that match, but she also scored the first goal of the game and assisted on the second. I knew it was a good idea to wear my Rose Lavelle hat to the match!
Months ago I was looking for my Eras Tour sweatshirt and I couldn’t find it anywhere. I knew I had it at home but couldn’t find it in my closet or any other place where I keep sweatshirts. I asked my family and none of them had seen it and after a few weeks of not being able to find it, I basically resigned myself to the reality that it somehow got lost somewhere in our house and who knows if I’d ever find it. However, the other night my dad found it and honestly, it made my month because I was like WHERE THE HECK IS MY ERAS TOUR SWEATSHIRT I HAVE GUARDED THAT THING WITH MY LIFE?! And it has now been found so I no longer have to mourn the loss of it.
I was the Production Manager for the play that my best friend was directing, so I worked on some props, helped out at a few rehearsals and was at tech which was super fun! The show was really cute; my best friend and the kids all did a great job!

I’ve been obsessed with Olivia Rodrigo’s new single drop dead — it literally hasn’t left my brain since it came out. It’s so catchy and fun, and as a fellow pisces, I love any song that brings up our zodiac! I’m really looking forward to her next album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, and can’t wait to hear the rest of it. Speaking of albums that come out in June, Niall Horan released his latest song from his 4th album, A Little More Time, and I unsurprisingly LOVE it. I’m really loving the sound of the album so far; both Dinner Party and A Little More Time make me want to dance and sing around my room. I can already imagine what these songs will be like on tour and I’m so excited.
Noah Kahan released his latest album, The Great Divide, and I really enjoyed it! My first listen was while I was working/doing other things, so I didn’t really get to sit with the lyrics but I love the sound of the album. I’m looking forward to continuing to listen to the album.
This month the live recording of The Last Five Years starring Rachel Zegler and Ben Platt came out as well. The Last Five Years is one of my favorite musicals, I could talk about it for hours, and trust me, I have! I’m pretty indifferent when it comes to Ben Platt for the most part (the man does have a gorgeous voice, but I’m not a huge fan of him in general), but I love Rachel Zegler, so I was thrilled when they announced a cast recording would be released. I was really glad that they did a live recording because it meant that we got to hear some of the dialogue that we don’t hear on the original Off Broadway and revival recordings, and Rachel sounds incredible! I’m so happy that there is yet another recording of one of my favorite musicals to listen to.

I’m loving the new game Spike, which is basically Wordle but for musical theatre. I’m having so much fun playing it every day and testing my musical theatre knowledge! I’ve gotten a few of them on one try, which truly is so satisfying.
I had some really delicious food this month, including Poke Bowls from one of my favorite sushi restaurants. It’s one that I love but don’t get to have too often and I had it twice this month which was just lovely. I also tried these new strawberry waffles from Trader Joe’s, and I’ve already gotten multiple packs because I keep snacking on them. Yesterday, I was at the dollar store with my mom and saw this novelty strawberry cup and I jokingly said to her “I should get this and drink my daily iced tea out of it” and since we were at the dollar store she bought it for me, so maybe one day I will drink my daily iced tea out of it! 🤣

April was a much slower month than March, and for that, I am extremely grateful! I’d love to know how the month of April went for you. Let me know in the comments what you read and what some of your monthly highlights were.
Until next time 💜
